why does everyone thing that a new that a new director will change things?  its the head coach that picks the team?

Ah but does he without any interference at all from the SD? Gilmour perhaps being a good example. Perhaps Duffy is the equivalent this season?

But does the SD without interference from Attanasio. Things seem to have gone to pot since he rode into town...

SD sets the agenda and play style.  Wagner couldn't just start playing long ball for example, that would have to come from discussions with the SD and an agreed method of playing.  This is why Wagner is sticking to his gameplan with the utmost belief that when the players get back to fitness they slot straight back in.

Knapper's playing style may be at odds with Wagner's though. The biggest problem Wagner has is that he's gone very random and arguably we don't really have a playing style. If anything Webber stepped back too far and gave Wagner the green light for this daft system where we have a huge gap between midfield and attack.

I think Wagner is more likely to be sacked because of that then results on the pitch.
