ridgeman 154 Posted October 21, 2023 After recent performances and poor signings I would rather he was shown the door now rather than allow him to stay until January and monitor the new sporting Director. Neil Adams could fill the gap in the interim and assist the new man.
canarybubbles 2,199 Posted October 21, 2023 A resounding NO from me. He shouldn't even be here now.
The Real Buh 3,765 Posted October 21, 2023 The fact he’s still here is something we are going to talk about for years to come. The fact he’s still here is such a metaphor for how crap we are as a club. The fact his wife is somehow staying because of… reasons? Needs to be financially investigated frankly. The whole thing absolutely stinks.
Keith Scott 294 Posted October 21, 2023 He should have been axed a long time ago. Unfortunately when you have geriatric coffin dodging owners like ours these decisions don't get made until it's too late. There's no way this club doesn't end up in league one within the next three years as long as the Stowmarket two are clinging on and dragging it down by their wrinkly old claws. All the best. Big Keith Scott.

repman 753 Posted October 21, 2023 He should've been gone the second he handed in his notice, allowing him and Wagner to do the transfer deals was shocking. I'd have more sympathy if the business done had been like every other window under Webber, where we often signed young talent. Instead we stocked the squad with 30+ players on big contracts which cover their decline years. I'd love to know what Knapper thought of the squad when he first became interested in the role vs what he thinks of it now.
Midlands Yellow 4,682 Posted October 21, 2023 There’s 2lb of King Edwards to dig up at the Colney allotment, maybe he’ll fcuk off then.

Let’s be honest it’s a huge step up for him, expect he is just delighted to have been given the chance. Not sure if that’s good news for us though, don’t feel like we are in a position to be taken a gamble on someone so inexperienced

Not sure if that’s good news for us though, don’t feel like we are in a position to be taken a gamble on someone so inexperienced The thing is if he joined at the end of last year he has a young squad with room to grow, now he has an old squad that contains players who will be hard to move on due to their age + wages. It's similar to the task Webber had when he first took over, but he was perhaps luckier in the sense that he was able to release 6/7 of those players in his first month as their contracts were up. Most of ours are contracted until 2025 at the earliest. As to the point about Knapper being a gamble, it's probably true that he is but I think football has changed a lot over the last 5/10 years and will continue to change at an even greater rate over the coming years so it's important you go for someone who is relatively modern, instead of a safe pair of hands. We all know the club will never be able to go toe to toe financially with the biggest ones so we need to be ahead of the curve in some ways, this is what Attanasio will know from his experience with the Brewers where they are arguably the smallest team in baseball but have been the 5th or 6th best over the last 5 years. If we stick to what we've been doing then we've already seen the outcomes.

rock bus 1,059 Posted October 21, 2023 (edited) Given how it’s ending for Stuart in any other club Zoe would be going as well. She might be good at her job but the level of influence the pair have had and the mess they have made of the club her position is just untenable Edited October 21, 2023 by rock bus

Indy 3,471 Posted October 21, 2023 Should have gone as soon as he agreed to go! It’s unhealthy to keep someone that high up in an organisation. He’s really cocked up this club, far worse than when he joined and had the nerve to criticise the previous regime for leaving us in such a poor position! Now we have a squad with a couple assets and the rest an aging squad on such high wages it’s going to cost us a good few years to get back to a level playing field! Petriix 3,219 Posted October 21, 2023 Should have gone in 2021 instead of Farke.
K Lo 246 Posted October 21, 2023 Webber talked a good game years ago and even backed it up with some decent seasons but it's all gone rather stale. I really don't know what he was thinking he could achieve by getting rid of Farke and installing Smith instead. Smith had a worse record in the Champ than Farke and with a much bigger budget. The signs of failure were there already. Should go already.
TheBaldOne66 768 Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) Definitely not but with our outdated ownership he will probably and get a big pat on the back for how well he’s wasted the money Edited October 22, 2023 by TheBaldOne66
