As I posted earlier I firmly believe they’ll be a knock at the door and a good chance they’ll lose their manager soon enough.

As we saw last season once you play a few teams nearer the top and drop a few points that confidence can deteriorate very quickly, and those 1 goal wins start turning into draws and defeats I’m not sure that three fixtures against Leeds, Saints, Sunderland means we can call it an “incredibly kind start”. Sadly, it’s more like a dream start…

I don’t highlight facts that flatter our biggest rivals though, why would anyone who supports Norwich? You carry on doing you though, it’s all part of the rich tapestry that is the Pink Un. But I will probably be unable to resist lobbing the occasional “binner” at you. And fingers crossed you turn out to be right about McKenna, I think we’re pretty safe on that score with Wagner.

Jim Smith 1,927 Posted Wednesday at 08:27 (edited) ips**t are doing better than I expected and momentum takes you a long way. Unfortunately that is what they have and with it comes belief that you can find a way to win games. They’ve not been impressive really in any game of theirs I’ve watched but they’ve found a way to win and are getting the rub of the green. Sunderland should have stuffed them and then perhaps things might have played out very differently. As it stands, the only decent side they’ve played is Leeds which they lost. This Southampton team now are already a million miles away from the Saints team that started the season. All confidence has gone. This was a good time to play them and it was always all about the first goal. our result at Rotherham was a shocker though. Scum would not have lost there. I was expecting a reaction from Southampton though in the same way Rotherham gave a reaction to us following a heavy defeat. Southampton now look a very very poor side. Can't defend, gutless midfield and no attackers. They will continue to slide down the table under Martin.
Canary Wundaboy 1,169 Posted Wednesday at 09:11 Saints were awful and yet Ipswich only won by a single goal which came about thanks to some atrocious defending. Bar 2 poor refereeing decisions against us at Saints and a no-show at Rotherham we'd be level with them. That said, Im certainly not enjoying them sitting in the automatic places. Shades of our season under Lambert after being promoted from League One....

Lets not Cherry Pick. Fully expect KM to be at Everton or similar soon.
keelansgrandad 6,236 Posted Wednesday at 09:21 (edited) Blimey. I cannot believe that some people are so obsessed with Ipswich that they can't concede they are doing well. So now the woke police are invading football forums. We have taken the pish at them for so long and now it might be their turn. Heat and kitchens springs to mind. Suck it it chaps. Or how about starting a topic that you aren't a real Norwich supporter unless you hate Ipswich with a vengeance bordering on hysteria. And have these people done the hard yards and been bricked at Portman Road? Edited Wednesday at 09:22 by keelansgrandad

I've been to Portman Road, that was punishment enough! In all seriousness, I think it's just hard to swallow that they're doing well and are above us. In recent history they've been our whipping boys, not beaten us for over a decade, they've been languishing in the Champs and then relegated to League One while we won 2 Championship trophies and beat them on the way to our Wembley triumph. We've received TV riches beyond their wildest dreams, sold out our stadium for season after season and even had the odd cup run. So after all that we've had, how on Earth can they have possibly caught up? How can that be possible with all that we've had over and above them for over 10 years? Have we wasted all that wealth so poorly that we've just back to square one? Has our ownership and lack of investment meant we've been unable to truly capitalise on the opportunities we've been given to the extent that we've back level with a club that has trees growing our of its stadium roof? I think that's what's really proving hard for people to face, hence the denials we're seeing on here and elsewhere within the NCFC fan-sphere.

I believe there is a bit of both for the levelling up, so far. We haven't progressed if we are still borrowing yet have sold our best. And we sacked our best coach because we panicked. Just maybe, as happened to us, they have had to swallow the insults and poor seasons but now with different owners and a decent coach, things have changed for them. But this is no time to be worried. We are doing better than many imagined after last season so playing them should be something we expect six points from.

I think that's what's really proving hard for people to face, hence the denials we're seeing on here and elsewhere within the NCFC fan-sphere. Not just us though. They beat Southampton on their own patch last night and the Saints are more recent occupiers of a Premier League slot and have held it for many seasons more than us. Our rapid decline is not unique, but still hard to swallow. As for the binners, their turnaround in fortunes has been amazing since the involvement of the pension fund, and I'm getting frustrated with hoping that their winning run (with one exception) ends. There are many fingers in that pie, however, and you have to wonder just what the outcome will be. The binners see this as a return to Premier League stability and even European football, but they are well-known for embellishing every thing about any of their successes and their club's place in the hierarchy. I tend to think that they are over-optimistic and fail to see the fragility of their current set-up. Losing that manger would be a major blow, for sure, but I'd like to think that the funding behind the whole business might well be ephemeral and that happenings on the other side of the pond might cause the house of cards to fold. It might eventually amount to a realisation that serious investment in the English game is an unprofitable business unless massive funding aligned with the correct environment (town, club and support) is made. Little Ipswich Town in the heart of darkest Suffolk will never provide that. It is an investment above all else and serious returns will be expected. In the case of the binners this can, imo, only be achieved by a sale if and when they reach the Premier League and achieve stability there. Not at all easy as Norwich City and countless others have found out. We can but wish whilst also hoping that the Annatasio involvement is a more genuine and measured affair based upon the man's successes with the Brewers. It's Character Forming 1,098 Posted Wednesday at 12:58 People need to remember Alan Sugar's prune juice analogy. When you're in the Prem, you get masses of money, but it's just like prune juice - it passes straight through and the club doesn't get to keep it.

First stop the Murderers, followed by the Lamb before a skip up Timber Hill for one in the Woolpack. Berstrete Gates was shut so two doubles in the Rose and a last one by the river, Queen of Iceni. The secret is to keep inching towards the ground and try and get seated before the kick off.
