O/T Fergie Time & the added time changes

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking that the new added time changes in the premiership are a bit daft. Sheffield United were leading 1-0 only to have 15 minutes of added time, losing 2-1, and at Villa they added 16 minutes.

They had a really long VAR check (at the end of which they didn't change the decision...) during added time in the Villa game. So there was added time in the added time.

Eventually teams will realise time wasting (which is what this new rule is trying to eliminate) is not worth it, it should reduce down a bit. Surely paying fans want as close to 90 mins of FOOTBALL and not acting - can't see how anyone can think this is a bad thing.

Yep, same. For years we've seen lots of time lost due to substitutions, goals with prolonged celebrations, injuries and attempts by players to waste time. The amount of time added on never reflected this.

If there are lots of subs (up to ten now, remember), goals, stoppages for injuries and players intentionally taking a few extra seconds over every restart, it's only right this time gets added on, regardless of whether it amounts to four minutes or 14.

Unless it's a cup game that goes to extra-time, I really don't want to see 100+ minute games as a regular occurrence.

Just book players who are obviously time wasting.
