Inch High aka Inchy..

Who is going to....

Score the goals?

I can't see it being either Sargent or Idah, I think they've proved that so where are the goals going to come from?

We need our new Pukki and soon.

That is a big concern for me also Inchy. I honestly cannot see Sargent, Idah or Barnes scoring more than ten goals each.

Sargent scored 14 last season..despite being pushed out wide for much of it.

Given a straight run down the middle (with Barnes just behind?), he'll score.we've bigger concerns that him, like who is going to supply from wide

Yes, Sargent will score, but he will also waste lots of attacking opportunities because of his poor first touch, as happened several times today. IMO we need someone else to challenge Sargent for his place, and then we can also send Idah out on loan because there is no way he is going to suddenly turn into a goal machine.

If Sargent gets injured, which will happen at some point in a season, we have no goals in the team. We need another striker in plus somebody to create, all easier said than done I know.

Don't worry we had Placheta up top today. He will score us 20 this season just you wait and see

None of them are as good as Teemu but the only player who looked capable of creating chances today was Rowe.

But I think Sargent was as good as Pukki last season although I also think Pukki would have scored more than Josh if we"d still had Emi.

Like it or not we have to move on now Emi and Pukki are both gone. We have to find a way that suits the strikers we have. Or buy new ones.

But like Kiaran Maguire said "it's like panning for gold". I doubt any SD will ever pan up Emi, Pukki and that perfect fit again.

Is Ricky van wolfsvinkel still around

Yes. 34. And scoring for Twente. Tzolis , should be able to give whoever it concerns the update from last season.

We have relied on one man for too long. Its about time others in the team contributed some goals. But I do agree we look wanting in two positions. Striker and creative midfielder.

I think are bigger problem is creativity, we need to give our strikers some chances, then hopefully they will convert the chances. You would hope that Webber & Wagner are looking in this part of the pitch.

10 goals each wouldn’t be that bad. Assuming me can add goals regularly from midfield too.

I can see Sargent and Barnes achieving those figures, although not many more. Idah, I honestly can’t see where a goal is coming from.

The one stand out feature today was the number of City players getting to the box. Apart from Gunn/Krul and Gibson almost everyone else was there. Placheta and Rowe played inside for much of their time giving Gino and (at times) Bali the chance to break down the wings.. i think even Duffy had a 'shot', it went goalwards anyway.

Today was about working on what Wagner wants, not about fitness. That is done at Colney. Getting the players sharpness back and knowing what they have to do and what others around them are going to do. The first 30 mins looked good, and I am sure Wagner is working towards the most effect X1.

Fisher looks like he can be another Gibbs. Straight into the first team squad. Yet again Idah looked woeful. Perhaps a reverse Sutton, and let him follow Doherty into the back four. He has the height/physique. A big shame about Tomlinson as it may have been the thought to cash in on Omo and let this laid step up. Always January.

Overall another good run out, with a bit of bite now. Gibbs reminds me of a Jack Russel, Clever little things, and not afraid to give the odd nip now and again. Onel can get passed his man, but if he only has the option to cut inside and try to set himself up for a shot that will soon be twigged by other teams.

There are signings in the pipeline, it seems. Whether they are dependent upon sales, it is not known. Certainly we need another striker. However, will any signing be an automatic first team player, or another for the future ? Finally, Gino is out of contract next summer. I think we should keep him. But if there is not another contract then we will have to sell him.

To paraphrase Dr. Peter Venkman: good idea. He can do more damage that way.
