Womens World Cup

Recommended Posts

Not sure if a thread has been started on this topic yet. I can feel the eye rolling from here.

It is in my country this year and the England have a couple of games in my home town Adelaide.

Are there any Norwich / Norfolk girls lacing up for 3 Lions?

Is anybody coming over to watch a game or two?

I for one am looking forward to it, as I have a soft spot for Sam Kerr.

I may try and get into it. Challenge might be the TV scheduling though? It will be interesting to see how full, or empty the stadiums are.

I expect England to do well but the squad has been hit by injuries so might just fall short.

Lauren Hemp is from Norfolk, She is very direct, and makes things happen.  She doesn't get the same headlines some of the other England players but she has been a top English player for several years.

I would love to take my daughter, but sadly not going to be able to.  I took her to two games at last years Womans Euro's and it was an amazing experience, motivated my daughter to try hard at football and to passionately care about the sport.  I hope you all enjoy it, should be a stunning experience, and as always just need to roll your eyes when anyone says anything derogatory about the woman's game or tries to compare it to the men.  Strange how no one in UK would say the same about woman athletics.

Women's athletics is sh*t, they don't even try.

Joking aside, though, I'm looking forward to it and I think we've got a decent chance of going all the way. Nice easy opener against Haiti, but then two tough-looking games against Denmark and China (ranked 13 and 14 in the world). Need to be careful not to lose either of those, as you could end up with the 'three teams on six points' scenario and go out on goal difference/head-to-head. Second round is likely to be Australia or Canada, then if we win our group it'll be a quarter-final against the Germans (eek!), and if we come second in our group it'll likely be France or Brazil.

Most of the matches will be around breakfast time, so hopefully a lot of employers will be generally encouraging about giving people who want to watch the capacity to do so!

You’re Australian?  That’s a surprise, you haven’t mentioned it in almost every post!!

It’s a bit low key over here so far, but so was the men’s until it got going (thankfully we didn’t have the wall to wall merchandise of usual tournaments); kick off times aren’t the best for us but I’m sure we’ll all get behind them once it starts.

We're all in in our household, I enjoy the women's game more than the men's on the international stage. Some of the fake Chinese suppliers have replicated the women's shirts, so we're expecting one of them each for my family of 5 any day now. Shame we couldn't go official but they charge absolute rip off prices, even for kids.

Very much this. When bulk buying , only a few years ago I could buy a good quality Full strip plus rainjacket for €8  per set , buying around 120 sets. The mark up on that Nylon trash is outrageous.

It would have cost us over £300 to get everyone an official shirt (the kids wanted names on the back), we've got 5 for under £60 and the kids picked a name. Won't know how good they are til they arrive, but my boy regularly gets fake club shirts through them and until you get up close you wouldn't know it wasn't the real thing.

Really enjoyed watching England women win the euros  they were positive and really went for it apart from the final itself ,but still got the job done far more exciting than watching southgates England , where we play two holding midfielders against teams like Egypt and Poland, I'll be watching and cheering us on .

I don't know where you work , but most companies including mine will not be encouraging the women's world cup , congratulations on having such a understanding employer.
