Obvious failure to replace kasper schmeichel, beating Southampton 9-0 then signing two of their defenders, over reliance on a hot and cold maddison and an aging vardy.. Wait.......Are you saying beating Southampton relegated them??....😏😉🤣
Ulfotto 631 Posted May 29, 2023 The situation is not unlike Burnley this season. Basically a lot will ride on getting back when the parachute payments are still going. Some of transfer fees paid are eye watering 32 million for Perez who is out on loan during a relegation battle.

But despite having access to hundreds of millions that we don't via owners - and even having won the league - best players still want to leave and move on. It's the reality for every club that isn't consistently dining right at the top.

Seeing as their wage bill is about double that of Burnley, I don't agree. They will have a far harder landing than Burnley and may well suffer the consequences. They've managed contracts soo poorly that now many of the squad can walk away for free and the rest don't even have relegation clauses. Is Tielemans out of contract soon? Not that he could command higher fees than Maddison but there won't be a shortage of clubs willing to sign him.

Jimmy Raggatip 59 Posted May 30, 2023 it's pure greed with Leicester. Thought they'd be getting Maguire level fees for the rest of time and now stuck with the highest ever wage bill to get relegated some of the players they've held on to because they're asking for twice the going market rate is ridiculous asked for 20 mill for Praet who never plays from Torino Tielemans and Ndidi were touted for big fees, they held out for astronomical fees, now both trot about the pitch unbothered and have tanked their value and probably a key reason they didn't get so many points

Sorry to state the obvious but debt is only a problem when a) you have to pay it back or b) you can’t service the loan. Obviously sometimes a and b happen at once. But even then in terms of the Prem , it may be catastrophic for one team , it isn’t for the league as a whole . A newbie just replaces the old failure. The Prem has survived a global pandemic . It did so by rushing the tv broadcasts back . The broadcasting rights are the driver. As Norwich fans , we don’t always appreciate the global appeal of the Prem. Go to Asia and you will see Star Sports (complete with Micheal Owen and even Paul Lambert) in bars and airport lounges. Not that long ago you saw NFL , now it’s Prem with the IPL coming up on the rails. The audience potential is massive . The whole Euro Super League was / is all about controlling the broadcast money. The premier league , the income and the geared debt isn’t going anywhere just yet . Edited May 30, 2023 by Graham Paddons Beard

The premier league , the income and the geared debt isn’t going anywhere just yet . No one can keep adding debt to debt already there and hope to survive though. The EPL now have Wolves, Everton and Leicester who have broken the FFP rules. All three finished in the bottom half of the League. Aside from Leicester the other two have won nothing for many many years. Forest will be the next club to come crashing down financially. What the owners don't seem to understand is that lending money to the club isn't a one off, its a continous cycle. Debt is now much more expensive to service than it was even one year ago. Eventually one club will not be able to bail themselves out.

Eventually one club will not be able to bail themselves out. You are describing individual club debts. I was responding to a post that said the Prem “will come crashing down”. Obviously a club (or anything) that gets to a point that they can’t service their debt then it’s a problem. The Premier League (not individual members at any given time) is some way off that .
