canarybubbles 2,199 Posted May 8, 2023 Since we lost to West Brom and the play-offs became mathematically unattainable, I feel there's been a shift of mood on here. The calls for protest and radical change have died down, and the calls to forget this season and trust that next season will be better have increased. There seems to be a kind of acceptance (from both happy clappers and doom mongers) that the Attanasio's are taking over, Webber and Wagner will still be here come what may, the five-year-plan is dead and buried, the Farke era is consigned to history, Sargent and Idah are the future, and resistance is futile. Maybe we're all just tired.
AJ 1,359 Posted May 8, 2023 (edited) Not much worth complaining when there's little to fight for. The management have fully acknowledged how important the summer window is, they'll be judged on that now. Save the boos for next season, today is about the goat 🐐 Edited May 8, 2023 by AJ

Save the boos for next season, today is about the goat 🐐 Agreed about today being Pukki's day. I also agree there's no point protesting or complaining because we can't change anything. The only thing we could theoretically do is follow our Supreme Leader's suggestion and switch our support to another club, but obviously this is impossible. We're the ultimate captive audience, and the club knows it.
Robert N. LiM 6,282 Posted May 8, 2023 Thinking back to @The Great Mass Debater's poll at the start of the season, I just think there's a sense of relief that we're not going up, mixed in with the disappointment. At heart we all knew the club wasn't ready for another PL season. Really hope the takeover can be finalised as soon as possible, and a new five-year plan can begin. Tractor production is up, comrades!
hogesar 10,762 Posted May 8, 2023 Just want to thank Pukki today. See him off properly. Not often you get the chance to, even with legends. I'm sure there will be some Webber Out stuff at least before the game today by a small group. That's their prerogative of course but all seems meaningless with ownership up in the air.

Right now we're in limbo, neither optimistic nor pessimistic. Edited May 8, 2023 by benchwarmer

lake district canary 4,830 Posted May 8, 2023 The frustration has been at a high level for a large chunk of the season, increasing as time went on as we continued to struggle to get the points we needed to get at least 6th place. That frustration week by week has lessened now simply because the play off carrot on the end of the stick has gone and we can now move on to something else. Agree that it's Pukki day today and all else is background noise. One of the big frustrations this season is the lack of playing to Teemu's strengths, only two goals I can think of where classy through balls were played through - and one of those was from Gibson - just not enough from midfield and Wagnerball didn't seem to be helping. Pukki must have been frustrated too during the last two seasons, Farke abandoning temporarily his preferred way of playing in an attempt to stop the rot, then Smith's seemingly stultifying attempts to change things, then Wagnerball that didn't improve things. But it's gone now, we can't get promoted, Pukki's moving on, so time for a change and looking forwards to the challenge of rebuilding.
Bert 236 Posted May 8, 2023 Apathy I can’t be ar$ed going to carra rud today to see those bunch of wasters
Capt. Pants 5,008 Posted May 8, 2023 If it wasn't for the ownership change it would be much worse, Pukki or no Pukki. My optimism is based on this happening quickly. We cannot lose anymore traction in this league. We needed to bounce back quickly; we didn't. Lots of apathy now but don't take that as acceptance. It's all about results and get off to a bad start next season it will get sour again very quickly.
daly 551 Posted May 8, 2023 Think Apathy is the word This has been a terrible season with statistics showing in most games us having 60/70% of possession with no end result Be interesting to see how many turn up if the weather changes
Mello Yello 2,572 Posted May 8, 2023 I will as the Norm stay to the bitter end....I'll then watch and listen to see and hear whatever occurs inside the stadia....I'll maybe give an infantile low key 'boo' and hope that Neppers Tom don't give me an angry ex Snivel Serpent Stare ....Then I'll vacate Carra an' have a look outside the GW stand entrance for a time, (again just to see and hear what's occurring)....Then I'll take a forlorn meandering amble to the City and to the pub....to have an end of a stinkin' sh*t season wake and debrief with my mates....Then hopefully I'll watch an' witness Brighton bash Everton on the pub telly-box.... Isn't life grand?....'Roll on August'...and to the rather ripe smellin' geezer who sits 2 rows in front of me....'Roll on Deodorant'....
repman 753 Posted May 8, 2023 I find it crazy that Webber and Wagner are being given the chance to overhaul a squad after showing nothing for the last 2 months but I also think if we got rid of them it'd probably be even worse. Any hope I have is based on the new ownership and the fact he has a good sporting record and his baseball club runs in a way that I think this club should if it ever wants to succeed. nutty nigel 7,902 Posted May 8, 2023 This season on here... Don't want promotion. Dean Smith is the worst manager ever we need him out before all chance of promotion is gone. Anybody else could get promoted with this best squad in the league. Thank god he's gone. We've got our Norwich back. If he'd been sacked before the WC Wagner could still have got this squad promoted. Play offs here we come. Wagner's just Webber's mate. Never wanted him here. Don't trust any of them trying to rebuild from this worst squad in memory. Everyone out!

mrdi 411 Posted May 8, 2023 I don’t think it was since the WBA game - while that mathematically confirmed our fate, it was the Boro-QPR-Swansea sequence which was the nadir. I don’t think it’s apathy - I don’t believe anyone here is truly apathetic - more likely a sense of resignation & acceptance this season at least won’t get any worse, nor will it string us along anymore with a begrudging sense of ‘hope’. Come what may, there’s a tangible ‘watershed’ feel about today’s game and the coming weeks. I’d like to think under the bloody-minded facade, nobody’s more aware of this (and last) season’s failures than SW himself. If indeed he’s sticking around, then I’ll retain some optimism that where he’s got things right before, he can do so again and set us back on an upward trajectory. (Remind me of this in mid-Sept). I still think the final whistle today should be met with a round of boos, regardless of the result, because that’s what this season deserves to be seen off with. It’s been long, painful, testing, divisive and ultimately unrewarding. Yeah, maybe we’re also just a bit tired of it, too.
Mello Yello 2,572 Posted May 8, 2023 Stu hasn't learnt from our previous on pitch failures and player acquisitions....so I'm not hopeful for the close season pick o' the flops....But hey....he has to earn a crust....
