cambridgeshire canary 7,797 Posted March 31, 2023 https://www.efl.com/news/2023/march/efl-statement-rotherham-united-v-cardiff-city/ Given Cardiff were winning when the match was called off I'm not sure they will be too thrilled about this.. Although the footage of Rotherham staff pushing water back onto the pitch at half time was pretty funny

The only exceptions have been if there are 2 or 3 minutes left eg because of crowd trouble.

Branston Pickle 4,144 Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) It was called off after 50mins or thereabouts, not enough to call it a ‘given’ result, so it should definitely be replayed. There’s no way Rotherham ‘played’ for the postponement - re sweeping water, I imagine it’s far more likely to drain through the pitch if any pitch side drainage is overflowing. Re: replays, when the Oxford-Binner match was in danger of being fogged-off after c75min, I’m pretty sure they said the 1-1 result would have stood. That Oxford went in to win was just one of those happy outcomes! Edited March 31, 2023 by Branston Pickle

If we go back 50 years we had one abandoned through fog with 6 minutes left and a 3 goal aggregate advantage. It still got replayed albeit we kept the 2 goal advantage from the first leg. Then again maybe we have become a little too soft.. Pretty sure pitches in this state would be deemed illegal thesedays

Don’t be Krul 452 Posted March 31, 2023 I always thought that the threshold was anything less than 76 minutes on abandonment forced a replay

Doesn't seem to happen much these days like it did in days gone by, probably why we can't remember.

Thankfuly as I said it's only nowadays the older style stadiums that get flooded or bad conditions as the modern ones are supposed to be designed to avoid it. Which makes this whole situation stranger as of course Rotherhams stadium is modern having been built in 2012 so you would have thought their stadium would have built in protection from flooding

With modern camera technology its not expensive to check all is in working order every now and then.
