Munchengladbach beat Bayern Munich

Recommended Posts

Probably worth mentioning Bayern played 82 minutes with 10 men.

Good result but he's not pulling up trees there. They fired their last coach for finishing 9th, they are currently 8th.

Sure , but beating the biggest team in the country will certainly earn him some peanut points with the fans.

They finished 10th, but I suppose your point still stands, clearly looking for managers to qualify for Europe so they have a chance of keeping hold of talent like Thuram.

Currently 9 points off 6th place (which is where they need to be for Europa League qualification)

No doubt but in fans view its more of a stay of execution- there were lots of FARKE RAUS! tweets last week.

It is interesting to see how it's going though- almost a carbon copy of what we saw with him here. Some excellent results v the top teams but other games where they dominate possession but lose. Also lots of complaints about subs being too late which makes me chuckle.

What do these words mean?

Got them into the top ten with a chance of top six which is what they are aiming for. Not got them bottom of the table.

Not hard to understand.

Aka the Man City result. 🙂

Seriously, very happy for Farke with that result.  Must've felt good.

They seem to beat Bayern every year, though. In fact, it's the fourth year in a row, and the fifth year in six, that they've beaten Bayern in the league.

I'm pleased for Farke and I'd love him to do well there, but they're currently 8th, and nine points off 6th. He's hardly pulling up trees.

Yeah exactly.

It'll be interesting to see how much patience he gets and if it takes him a season or so to get his team properly set up like it did here. If so he can be a big success. But if they finish 8th or 9th this season he might not get the chance.

You’ve claimed this about Farke out comments before. Could you quote your source?

The sentence doesn't make sense.

Of course if he has done well he hasn't done badly.

But whatever.

You’ll have to remind me-apart from beating Man City-and a weakened Spurs team in the cup on penalties-I can’t remember any other excellent results against top team under Farke.

It's probably also worth mentioning that the 10 men came about because of a red card received due to a foul committed to stop them going 1-0 up when it was 11v11.

He's been linked with Man Utd and Inter, so I doubt even Europa League football will keep him at BMG this summer.

In the interests of balance, Gladbach lost 4-1 to Hertha BSC six days before beating Bayern.

And Hertha are in the relegation zone.

So it is completely fair to accept that Gladbach are going to be expecting Farke to find more consistency.

Gladbach thrashed Dortmund earlier in the season as well. Obviously really good feel good results, however again had lost to Bochum 3 days before... and they are also in the relegation zone.

That's a fair point, however they were in Europe the season they signed Thuram.

So can easily change to expecting to qualify for Europe so they can attract the calibre of players necessary to replace the likes of Thuram. If he leaves this summer they have to try and replace him, and that won't be easy without European football on offer.

A lot of their squad was signed whilst they were qualifying regularly for European football.

A decent amount for Thuram might put them in a good position to stump up big money for a right-back...

He's out of contract, so they're going to lose him for nothing.

The attitude to player contracts in the Bundesliga is a lot more relaxed than ours.

It's not unusual for players to announce who they've signed pre-contract agreements with in January and continue playing to the end of the season without any complaints from the fans or the clubs.

On Saturday the BMG Sporting Director made a special presentation to Yans Sommer who left BMG to join Bayern in January as a thank you for his time at BMG.

I notice the Bayern win was followed up by a 4-0 loss to midtable Mainz.

These stats really take me back to that first Farke season.

Little more than half as many shots as the opposition from twice as many passes, and only 2 of them were on target.

I bet that was a tough watch.

Classic scripted football manager scoreline. What's that? You're on a good run and all you need is one more win to secure a title? Sorry, you lost!

If I was a BMG fan, I'd bite your hand off for thumping wins against Bayern and Dortmund then a few losses to lesser teams. Memories and moments.
