Go with tomorrow's man. He can learn to dominate his area, he doesn't have to learn how to kick.

Good thing Gunn is injued for the next two months.

Good thing he isn't...

Both are good keepers and I think there's very little in it, but, I'd choose Gunn because he is much better with his feet and less likely to have "a moment".

I stand by my previous assessment.

One of the pundits just said that Krul has the most amount of errors leading to clear goalscoring opportunities in the league.

As in, not just keepers but all players.

Can that really be true or are they mistaken? If it is, then I wish I could change my vote to Gunn.

It is. In today's game, you either change the whole team structure or you change your keeper. Wagner surely has seen enough.

Anybody know how long Gunn is out for?

I think I'd choose Gunn now after that, as he made a very similar error against Preston I'm sure of it.

However I wouldn't go as far as to call for McGovern, and that's who we have on the bench right now.

They haven't said. They stated that Rowe, Placheta and Byram are out until March. All they have said for Gunn is "It's nothing serious" but also that he went to see a specialist (which sounds potentially serious!). Cambridge keeps claiming that he is out until March, but you know, Cambridge and facts are never very close together.

Thinking Krul should be our number one is just pure nostalgia. He's been given a chance to cement his place and he's absolutely fluffed it. He makes 1-2 catastrophic mistakes every game. He's got away with most of them, but not today. Not the player his was, sadly.

Not just that... the 2nd place player on that stat had made 3 all season. Krul has made 3 in the last 3 games!!

The answer was obvious before today, sadly. Bit of a worry it's taken today to open some eyes. Will be an even bigger worry if it hasn't opened Wagner's.

Today it would have been Krul regardless.

But I suspect it cements Gunn's return to the side, it certainly should.

Yes, Krul did. And he was at fault for the Preston winner as well. But, without seeing today's game, it sounded as if the greater problem was that we were outgunned in midfield. It seemed like a midfield to play on the front foot against a lesser team than Burnley. But then looking at the available squad I am not sure we had better options.

Before Krul's suicide pass, McLean had screwed up badly by dallying on the ball and given them a great chance to go ahead, only to be rescued by Hanley. From the very start of the game, we had no idea how to break their press and if that's the case we may as well boot the ball upfield and aim for Sargent's head - OK, the ball may come straight back at us, but at least there's half a pitch between the ball and our goal.

The problem with this idea is that Krul's kicking is awful as well so he wouldn't be able to aim for Sargent's head.

Krul is a fcuking liability it's as simple as that.

Shocking kicking and flaps at every single shot. As soon as Gunn as in he should be in, in fact McGovern is probably a better bet at the moment.

I hadn't voted before because I was happy to go with Wagner's decision. But after today I've voted for Gunn. I'm sick of Krul's kamikaze mistakes screwing up our chances in matches.

I voted Gunn, but I’ll not bash Krul. Today he had a stinker and he caused the goal obviously, but his shot stopping ability has saved us on so many occasions that he still deserves to be in contention.

Krul was dreadful today, not just the obvious error but he was flapping at shots and not dealing with crosses

From memory, for all he has covered relatively well when called upon, McGovern's kicking was worse than Krul's though !

I just can't comprehend how casual he looks when he makes these errors.

Often he's not being harried and looks like he has a cool head as he does something ridiculous - this is what annoys me more than anything.

With most of them his body language looks like he's in a training session.

Totally correct. It was a serious error on Wagner's part to pick Krul in the first place. Granted he would probably have brought him back in today due to Gunn's injury but once Gunn is fit he must be restored as No1. In fact I would not play Krul again, full stop. Smith may have got many things wrong but one thing he did see and made a brave call was to recognize Krul's calamity with the ball at his feet. Today was appalling and his total indecision infected the whole of the defence. It cannot be allowed to continue.

Wagner is still getting the lay of the land, however if he did his homework beforehand I don't think Krul would of started before now. It will be interesting to see what changes he makes from his initial thoughts. It shows you how far we are away from the likes of Burnley

Still rate Krul as the better keeper, but today - my god, I don't think i've seen such an awful error.

Thing is, generally you'd say his weakness is more in open play where he stands over the ball too long looks a bit clueless, and ends up playing the same pass that was available when he first received it - only now attackers are running in.

But this,  This was just a whole different level of ****e!   Dead ball situation, plenty of time to think and place a pass..It was just a complete **** up.

I think my problem is knowing Krul is on the decline, yet struggling to filter out the past with what he offers today.... If we had signed him this window and this was his first match i'd be asking how we are even paying him wage but I can't bring myself to judge him like that.

I guess he's got the chance to make amends being that Gunn is injured.  If he puts in a great performance in the next 2-3 matches it will be interesting what the general consensus is then.

Wagner also needs to sit with that whole back 4 and sort this out pronto - Krul can not be allowed to hover on the ball.  There's passes immediately available to him... I just don't know why he doesn't move the ball out as soon as it arrives, it's not just yourself who's being pressed in that period, it's the receiver too.

Not to stereotype the Dutch or anything, but maybe he’s stoned when he plays? 🤔

With Krull in obvious decline, Gunn is not the long term answer. We clearly need a new first choice goalkeeper in the summer whatever division we are in.

Wagner was pretty bullish in his support for Krul in the post match comments yesterday I noted … (I hope he’s not painting himself into a corner on this one)

Wagner selected Krul reportedly because he was better equipped to organise the defence. However, the 2nd and 3rd goals showed obvious lack of care and attention and no leadership from him of that defence. He had Vitinho right in front of him, but at no stage called out to a colleague to pick him up! I'm not even wasting time on saying Hanley should have as well, he never does.

So if he can't organise the defence, and his kicking is Sunday league quality at best, then he really should not start at Gunn's expense.

As for Gunn, the injection he had at the specialist seems to have improved things. Wagner expects him "to be back in training by end of next week, maybe midweek."
