Season ticket prices 65+

Have a look at Midland's post. And I found Echinacea(?) helped.

I thought I struggled because I am a smoker but a young lady in my street is generally healthy but is extremely unwell. But I'm sure you'll be better by 14/2. The only problem I have now is that I'm still going to bed earlier than before.

Get the turmeric, black pepper and ginger down ya. You’ll be running half marathons within a fortnight and leaving the viagra in the medicine cupboard for the young ones.

The reasons for those discounts are completely different.  A 65 year old is statistically far more likely to be able to afford their own season ticket than a 15 year old.  I'd wager they are more than likely able to afford a fully priced season ticket in comparison to anyone under the age of 30 as well.

I would guess that most 15 year olds don’t pay for their season ticket though, and  of course a 65 year old is more able to pay than a 28 year old with a mortgage and a child, but if you’re in your twenties, working and living at home then you have more disposable income than anyone else. We’ve all had to make decisions in the past about whether we can afford something, it’s coming across as a bit entitled to suggest that the younger you are, the more discount you should get.

If you’re going to bed earlier with the young lady in your street I fail to see the problem ( wink )

I think the point you are making is everyone circumstances and priorities are different, and age whilst a factor for some, shouldn't be the determining factor.

I struggle with why pensioners get a free bus to go into city for a case/ shopping, or all over the country, when people who are struggling have to pay to get to work!

Try buying two or even three seats together

Don't need to, I have my season ticket plus the 4 others I go with.

I dont always get tickets to the shows or gigs I want, but it doesn't mean the venue is too small......

Again with the bus passes it all depends on circumstances. Some pensioners wouldn't get out and about without it. Others could afford taxis into the city twice a day and six times on Sundays. How do you target the buss pass where it's needed?

I've not noticed, but any lady would suffice, doesnt have to be young, well within reason!

That's my point. Its a cheap (comparatively speaking) vote winning solution.

However the free busses still need to be paid for.

Why not subsidise them all and make it cheaper for all?

Because it wouldn't solve the problem. In fact it would make it worse because more people who didn't need it would get the subsidy.

Yet someone like me, who gave up our tickets cannot obtain them

But the bus costs the same to run however full it is, and my understanding is they are obliged to run them irrespective of take up. So a fuller bus won't cost any more than an empty one,  but more people benefit.

Imagine being a season ticket holder for donkeys years and then snuffing it the week before your 65th birthday. 🙂

P.S I'm loving this thread, best entertainment on here for a while.

I am fast approaching 65 ( 2 more seasons for me ) and I have to say I will appreciate the discount. I dread to think how much I and my parents and now my youngest son have spent on NCFC since I was 4. Every other club offers an over 65 cheap ticket, so why should I pay a subsidised rate for an away game, and full price for a home game. But don’t worry to much about club revenue as in the season I become 65 my son will no longer get an under 21 season ticket.
When you get to 65 who knows how many more seasons you will have wether through I’ll health or dare I say death.
Travelling from Birmingham I may if there was no reduction decide to go to away games only giving my and my sons and my grandchild money to our opposing clubs rather than NCFC. If I gave up my season ticket three others would as well.
I appreciate we had closed grounds with Covid but away from that outside the premier league it is very rare we sell out and when we do ( Leeds and Ipswich aside ) it is usually glory hunters when we near promotion.

So therefore I guess I am against your motion.

I'm with you Well,   I've been going since 1972 & people on here saying we don't sing come & stand ( or sit ) in the Snakepit on Saturday think you will change your mind.

Too bloody true I deserve a discount for the first time next season 👍

Because it prices out those in the greatest need.

Some would insist on the discount passing to their children!

How can you be priced out of something that is free at point of sale as it currently is?

Whats your suggestion NN?

Because the subsidy doesn't stretch that far. If you're talking about making busses free for everyone then where will you make the cuts to pay for it.

So what do propose NN, to make sure the needy get it?

Who are the needy?  the old , disabled,  poor, those on certain benefits?

I don't propose anything. I think it works quite well as it is. I think there's a very small percentage of the pensioners entitled to a bus that use it regularly. And the ones who maybe don't need it are far outweighed by those who benefit from being able to get out and about amongst people. The bus pass is vital for the mental health of many of the least well off.

I didn't say they should have more of a discount, I questioned why a 65 year old should have a discount when a under 30 doesn't.

I don't really want to get into the debate, but the mere fact that you assume someone in their twenties is still living at home points to all the problems the older generation have left younger people to pick up whilst they've benefited from subsidies and handouts that someone under the age of 40 today could only dream of obtaining.  I bet not many of those benefiting from the 65+ discount were still 'living at home' when they were in their twenties, nor were they desperately trying to save tens of thousands of pounds for the privilege of having a mortgage.
