Mr Angry 2,010 Posted January 11, 2023 Only watched the second half, don’t remember anything unusual, anyone notice anything? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64234307
cambridgeshire canary 7,797 Posted January 11, 2023 Always does make you wonder when the term "suspicious betting" comes up. What was the bet? "(Player name) to scratch his nose and yell slurs at the ref at the 69th minute"?
PockthorpePete 331 Posted January 11, 2023 I would imagine there are some bets, in low numbers, for a certain event/action in most games. So when that level of betting increases to what is above the norm, and that event happens then there is the 'suspicious betting'. Brown being booked in the 59th minute could be it. Unhinged Canary 375 Posted January 11, 2023 Apparently it was to do with a load of bets being put on a certain Oxford player getting booked.
keelansgrandad 6,680 Posted January 11, 2023 Its the bookmakers fault. That you can have such daft bets is ridiculous.

How I Wrote Elastic Man 1,330 Posted January 11, 2023 Whenever I read stories like this, I'm always reminded of the Matt Le Tissier throw in bet 😄
AJ 1,358 Posted January 11, 2023 Can't they just ask Ivan Toney?

Drazen Muzinic 1,502 Posted January 12, 2023 (edited) Stan Bowles does a good story about booting the ball at the FA Cup trophy at Sunderland in 1973. It was proudly sitting on a trestle table at the side of the pitch in the first match at Roker in the 73-74 season but he had a small wager (probably with Don Shanks) that he could knock it off there. He headed across the pitch against the run of play the first time he got the ball and smashed it as hard as he could at the cup, sending it and the lid flying. He reckons he was lucky 30000+ Mackems didn't tear him limb from limb that day🤣 Edited January 12, 2023 by Drazen Muzinic
