KiwiScot 1,038 Posted January 17 Make more sense for Cantwell to try and latch onto a Premier League club on a free in the summer than go to Scotland.
Danke bitte 796 Posted January 17 How much will we get? I appreciate it’ll be “undisclosed” but what’s the sum… I’m feeling between £5 and £8 mill.
GodlyOtsemobor 1,364 Posted January 17 Just now, Danke bitte said: How much will we get? I appreciate it’ll be “undisclosed” but what’s the sum… I’m feeling between £5 and £8 mill. Nowhere near that. We might be able to push 1.5 - 2m if we're lucky. Probably end up with 750k + add-ons on games played/champions league games etc.

The longer this goes on, his ability to trade on increasingly former glories decreases. I’m not convinced there’d be many (if any) current EPL clubs who’d take on someone who’s spent two seasons losing their way. At best, maybe someone like Sheff Utd or at a stretch, Burnley - I’m fairly sure Bellars could mentor a tune out of him.

Google Bot 2,114 Posted January 17 The deal was in place, hand extended, when Webber says "Oh, There's some important things I forgot to tell you..." "Number one, he hates bright lights. You gotta keep him out of the sunlight.... Sunlight will kill him." "Number two, keep him away from water. Don't give him any water to drink, and Whatever you do, don't give him a bath. If he asks to look at the Clyde tell him 'No!' and give him some crayons." "And the most important thing... ...don't EVER let him go on social media after midnight".

PockthorpePete 325 Posted January 17 Not sure if that is accurate. Rangers earned around £80m in 21/22. I can't think many in the Championship can match that, even with parachute payments. The question is did he refuse to sign another contract, or did we decide to wash our hands of him ?
Indy 2,641 Posted January 17 The problem I have with this is if we have a fee, we’re probably waiting on his departure to bring any potential new signing in, free up wages and fee could be used. The longer it goes on the more we’re hindered. As above I can see Cantwell staying as I doubt this type of thing gives any potential team interested confidence in his attitudes. TheDarkKnight 290 Posted January 17 22 hours ago, TheDarkKnight said: think maybe Norwich or his agent are just using Rangers as a chip to garner outer interest . Yeah. Turns out it was probably the case. Rangers don't usually drag their heels in transfers and this saga has lasted longer than the Aaron Ramsay deal. And Ramsay is a decorated player, whereas Cantwell is... Cantwell. Blackburn appear to be splashing the cash. They've tabled a bid for Ryan Porteous of Hibs, and now potentially Cantwell. Looks like they're making a push for promotion.

Nexus_Canary 699 Posted January 17 "And Cantwell appears to be the very definition of a mercenary – not much different to our own Glen Kamara, attitude dumped and giving nothing to his club in favour of a big expensive shiny move to somewhere that will pay him tonnes."
