NCFC Predictions for 2023?

Recommended Posts

Anyone had a good look into their crystal balls and wish to share a few predictions for this coming calendar year?

Here's mine;

1. City appoint David Wagner.

2. January brings two loan signings only. One is a winger, another a central midfielder.

3. Allan Russell is made assistant manager, recognising his desires to push on into management.

4. Season ticket sales take a hit in response to what has been an unentertaining 24 months as a Norwich fan and the cost of living crisis.

5. But on the field there is shoots of optimism, even if results remain inconsistent. City finish 6th, but lose out to 3rd place in play off semi final.

6. This heralds the biggest summer of upheaval since that first summer in which Webber was in charge.

7. Webber stays, but to placate calls for his dismissal, he agrees to leave at the end of next season.

8. Pukki announces his departure after he gets an offer to go and play in Spain, which he says is a life long ambition. He leaves to a thunderous exit, with the whole of Norfolk entering into an almost mourning like state and a YouTube video of Pukki's best bits becoming the most watched video ever produced by NCFC .

9. Also leaving are Hugill, Dowell, Cantwell, Byram, Sinani, Hernandez and McGovern (who retires and becomes a coach here) after their contracts end. Rashica, Tzolis, Giannoulis, Aarons, Krul, Gibson, Placheta, Sara and Nunez all move on, for significantly cut price deals as Norwich look to slash the wage bill.

10. With no money, the club looks to it's youth team. Dan Barden, Tomkinson, Mumba, Gibbs, Rowe and Springett become fully fledged members of the first team squad. City hold on to Hanley and Sargent despite a close season of much speculation around the American striker.

11. Harry Toffolo joins on loan from a Nottingham Forest in need of making cuts of their own after relegation. Aaron Ramsey rejoins us on loan as Villa are eager for him to continue to play after he recovers from injury. A new winger also joins to play on the right wing.

12. We start the next season with Gunn in goal, Mumba at right back, Toffolo at left back, Andy Omo and Hanley in defence, Gibbs in defensive midfield, McLean and Ramsey in midfield, Idah and the new winger out wide and Sargent up front, but a young subs bench that includes Barden, Tomkinson, McCallum, Rowe, Springett and Sorenson (among others).

It's very much what I would like,  and I suggested rebuilding in my post today. New manager,  new ideas needs new players that fit his style.

Promotion would be a bigger disaster than last time and will affect many ST holders mentally and kill any enthusiasm for future promotions.

I like your thinking.
