The Cook could well be rubbing her hands with glee at this news. R Martins poor run continues and Jacks are furious. She can see her dream of the blue eyed boy returning AND without shelling out any compo!!! Whether Webber is quite as deluded we will soon know I suspect. Wonder how Webber and Martin got on in the brief few months they were at FCR??

Favourite to be next manager sacked in the championship, but really canโ€™t see it happening until they are certain Norwich are no longer sniffing around, if indeed they ever were / are.

I can see the Webber quote now โ€˜ we had someone lined up to take the role, then Russell became available - obviously with his pedigree weย had to talk to him before making an appointmentย etc, etcโ€™ ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Russel Martin could be a very fine manger. Whether he's right for Norwich at this time I have doubts, but I have little doubt that if appointed he'd be welcomed back.ย

Russell Martin divided the fans massively as a player.

Getting him back as a manager would be a disaster as there would be a number of fans against him from the off.ย

Stay well away.

Swansea supporters want to see the back of him. I'd wager there's not enough small-minded fans who want to see him back here as manager.

Only after he moved to Center Back though. Absolute stud for 3 seasons, and as a manager just what we need.ย

Does this sound familiar?ย

Inspired by Guardiola's Barcelona and Manchester City teams, Martin prefers his teams to dominate ball possession.[47]ย Tactically, he prefers the 3โ€“4โ€“2โ€“1 or 3โ€“5โ€“2ย formations, with an emphasis onย passing the ballย andย pressingย the opposition.[47][64]ย If his teams suffer a bad result, Martin prefers to improve his game plan, rather than changing the style of play.[65]

Indeed. Here is a caption from Sky prior to Swansea's defeat today, their eighth match without a win that shows why. Other interesting facts to emerge from the commentary were:

1. 84% possession in the first 20 minutes with no touches in the opposition box or shots on goal.

2. Only two goals from dead ball situations all last season.

Itโ€™s not working very well results wise is it.ย

Neither did Farke's first season. It's arguable it's not working because Swansea don't have enough quality to make it work. I can't say I've watched enough of them to know that for sure, but certainly applies to our game vs them last week.

Swapping a manager who has us in 5th place for one currently in 16th? place would make the club an even bigger laughing stock.

True. If Russ was to manage Manchester City it may work out fine. Otherwise just accept that tippy tappy doesn't work.

Wait so we can only employ a manager who's above us in the league, irrespective of that teams quality?

Appointing someone who has not won in 8 games and is on their own awful run of form would be just as f*cked up a move as appointing a manager who's just been sacked by a relegation rival. Who'd do that?

No but we want a manager on the way up, not one on the way down.

Martin would see managing NCFC as the pinnacle of his managerial career i suspect, and we need much more than that type of ambition.

Seems to work a lot better than the cr@p "style" we are playing now... record points total, two Championship trophies, and a veryย clear and obvious bond between the team, manager, and fans if I recall correctly...ย
