...plus he uses "should of" instead of "should have"....always something that winds me up.

I imagine he says ‘should’ve’ and that one lies with the journalists.

Nope, definitely "should have".

Oh well done then, another weird stick to beat him with.👏.

Of course, DF always spoke English perfectly…..

Farke spoke well (if not a litte wordily) in a non native language.

Smith had to look up the word 'apathy' in a dictionary. Based on everything I've seen from him I assume he was being literal there and not making some clever double meaning about how apathy isn't a thing in his world.

"We need the fans"

"We need everyone together"

"We have what it takes as a club"

He's not talking detached at all. No problem with people criticising but finding things that aren't there is just so, childish.

“They” (us fans) have been waiting for this to happen.

is what he said

He's in a hole.  All he can do with public comments is to stop digging.  He's not going to persuade me by anything he says, the only way he'll be able to do that is via performances and results.

IMO he's had long enough to turn it around, but the club are clearly sticking with him for the moment.

I'd be happy to be proved wrong if we start to see the team playing joined-up football at the next few games, but I'm not holding my breath.

This sums up my feelings completely. We don't have to be unpleasant about it but it just isn't working.

My marriage ended in a similar way and we were both grown up enough to be honest and decent about it. Sometimes these things just happen. Let's all just grow up and go our own way.  Please.

Well it wouldn't make any sense if he said "We've been waiting for this to happen" would it?

I think he’s actually a decent human being…

I’d like to hope he can turn it around …

But I don’t hold out much hope ..

We’ll know soon enough

For what it’s worth I think Webber is the problem ….

Dean Smith has “No regrets” and “No apologies to make”.  I have no respect for the arrogance of this man who goes on to say “I believe I am good at my job”. So … 3 points out of a possible 21 at home is the real stat’ that Dean Smith SHOULD be quoting. That is relegation form. Please! If Dean Smith gets any better at his job we will be in the bottom three of the Championship. Of course he has to say that he is good at his job, but that means the problem lies somewhere else. That means he has to blame the fans, the players , the grass being the wrong shade of green. Anything,  but is is not Dean Smith’s fault. No respect for him at all.

A couple of things:

1.  What Dean Smith said sounds a bit different to the bullet points  when you read the full transcript here Norwich City: Dean Smith on toxic Blackburn defeat and fan comments | Eastern Daily Press (edp24.co.uk)

2.  The transcript is from what he said exclusively to the Pink Un - was there just nobody else there or is this a sign of some healing in relationships with the local media?  And is that why  it's not behind a paywall  - so everyone can see it  because it is to help also heal the relationship with fans.  I hope so.

Just watched the press conference in full.

It's interesting how Smith frequently falls back on stats to defend himself.

He said Blackburn's xG was 0.01 when they scored. As if this number somehow prevented Gibson from making the kind of mistake we see from him every week.

He spoke of Norwich having 12 out of 18 attacks that successfully crossed the half way line, when playing out from the back. As if the way they struggled to play through the midfield wasn't an issue.

It's an extraordinary kind of self-deception.

It's very worrying. It makes you think he genuinely believes we're playing well and just lacking the rub of the green.

We were awful versus Blackburn. Awful. If he thinks they're are numbers that say otherwise then he's as thick as he sounds.

When he's sacked over the next week or so , he'll be marched off the premises ,kicking and screaming foaming at the the mouth, shouting out XG stats

The problem is that stats no longer become useful tools to aid analysis but a way of avoiding reality.

The important stat that Dean Smith deliberately avoids acknowledging is 3 points from a possible 21 at home. This is relegation form, and it is happening on his watch.

If Gibbs and Andy O don’t start in place of Hayden and Gibson I think Smith is either wishing to get the boot and a payout or is a mentalist…let’s see.

I think Hayden will stay, personally I would prefer to see him with Gibbs.  Omobamidele has to start.

I think the personal comments about Dean Smith are unfair, he is open and speaks in a plain English style - tbh not much to dislike.

For me the crux is that he does not have a plan (if he has it has not been explained) so the formation constantly changes and the players look like square pegs in round holes.   He is the coach and he is paid to make the big calls, he has messed up with our attack.  We looked best when Teemu was out injuried, since then he has tried to keep Josh and Teemu happy, I think that is throwing the balance of the side and meaning less bodies in midfield to transition the ball.

Therefore Jack Reeves comment that the game in isolation against Blackburn was not that bad is true, but following on from the US reset it was terrible.

We can still go up, we have a larger and deeper squad than our competitors, so in the intense weeks to come we might turn the corner.  Who trusts that if we go up our coach will make us stronger than the sum of our parts.

So that means a midfield of Hayden, Gibbs and McLean then as I can't see Kenny being dropped.

Agree about Omo.

Interesting, he really should. “I don’t want to drive a wedge” but I’m not going to apologise for saying poorly thought out things that did just that.

Smith just embodying the lack of humility at the club. Awful non-apology.

Annoyingly mentioned xgs again, this time in relation to Blackburn's xgs in the first half on Saturday.

0.01 I think he said.

Reality takes over from stats shocker...........

To be fair Farke ( as with most current managers ) base their whole ethos around stats.

At Man City your stats, fitness and even fat readings are used and anyone not 100% spot on is left out until they get it right as Phillips has just discovered.

Don’t shoot me down here for stating the obvious, but our away form is championship winning form.

The only positives he seems to exude is that we are in the playoffs. But we are only 11 points from relegation and have lost 8 games by halfway through the season.

I want to hear him be positive that things need to change and he as much as the players needs to try something different. He just seems to talk acceptance of the fact rather than he knows what is going wrong and where he can put it right.

The issue with stats is they have to be looked at holistically, to focus on specific stats is almost always spin.

19 shots sounds good…until we realise only 4 were on target for instance.

60% sounds great…until you look at the areas that possession was played in.

Stats aren’t the issue, it’s the cherry picking.
