New striker coming in on loan?

Today's Pink Un report is that we are after Brightons Deniz Undav on loan. He himself has yet to score for Brighton in the top flight.. Although he did score against Forest Green Rovers in the cup. He has however scored 8 in 12 in the Belguim divison. Suppose the real question with this rumour doing the rounds is what this means for Idah, Pukki and Sargent. Fair to say as of now Strikers is not a position we seem to have any issues with so if true wonder what this may imply about our currennt crop? Although it seems the source of this rumour is football leauge world so chances are its probably false anyways

Loans still come with fees, we won’t be signing a PL striker that cost Brighton 6M in January imo. Strikers are not our problem, sorting out how we feed the strikers we already have is.

I get its good for the club to keep it under the radar with regards to their target. But I do love a bit of transfer gossip. Summer will likely see a fair few from the farke era (either bought or raised), depart.

 

Id love to just names to look out for on how our team will look. Still unclear what a Smith team looks like. 433 one sitting I'd guess. (Yes I managed to find a stick to beat deano with!) Pretty good, pretty pretty good.

The thing Idah needs most is football so I could absolutely see him going out on loan. Same for Hugill although for a different reason obviously.

Worth noting in all of this is that as things stand, Pukki and Hugill are out of contract in the summer. If anyone comes in now for either of them, with a reasonably bid, we may well sell.

It could well be that whoever was sniffing around Pukki last summer are still interested and in all fairness, he hasn't scored as many in this side as he had in previous sides, and with Sargent being better through the middle they may look to cash in, especially if he has no interest in signing a contract extension.

The more obvious is probably what KG says...

I suspect they'd let Hugill go on a free rather than loan though if they could, even if it meant he signed a short term deal until the summer. Gives him a chance to get in the shop window so to speak.

Idah would be for regular games.

We could even see all of the above... Vydra would be someone experienced at operating at this level and somewhat consistent at scoring at this level. The lad from Brighton may offer something else, anyone know how pacey he is? Perhaps he could replace Sargent on the right... 😅

Idah isn't going to replace Pukki or Sargent anytime soon this season. He's had maybe four seasons where we've expected him to break through and he hasn't plus he's been blighted by injuries again this season

He's not going to improve staying here remainder of this season and surely will only have a bit part role. Playing regularly on loan remainder of this season is the best thing for him, his confidence and to see if he can push on and improve

LOL my mate was winding me up about a rumour he'd heard about Idah going to Ipswich on loan 🤣.

We're not going to get much of a fee for Pukki at this late stage in his contract. I simply cannot see the sense in selling the only 'weapon' we have for next to no movement on the balance sheet.

As far as Undav is concerned, I can only assume Gilmour has put in a good word for us...

Well Hugill hasn’t really been involved much so can see him getting offloaded and Idah needs playing time so a loan to the likes of Oxford would be great!

If Pukki has decided this is his last season, then we look weak on strikers, if it’s a loan with view to purchase why not…..

Hugill was a very strange purchase and not that cheap too with all the add ons. Idah needs a loan at league one level, that hat-trick at Preston seems a lifetime ago. Carlton Morris scenario all over again but maybe not as good.

Funny you say that when a teenager from Villa has been one of our better players recently.

Kent and Chair are too good for us unless we get promoted, the other two maybe though.

Tbh I don’t think there’s anything I’d realistically add to our ranks at the moment.

I think the Porteous link is believable considering Webber has done the whole cheap Scottish player with 6 months left on contract thing before and us having two of his international teammates here.

If we were to sign him I think that would be the end of Sorenson. Utility player and yet 3rd possibly 4th choice left back, 3rd possibly 4th choice defensive midfielder, and that would be the end of the need for him to hang around as the de facto backup centre back. 

Might also free up Tomkinson for a League 1 loan which would be good for both him and player.

If Pukki is off, just get Idah up front and let him develop here… absolutely no point in chasing promotion, we are nowhere near ready for that!   

He may be a revelation anyway!   Good enough for Championship.

A MLS move for Pukki sort of has 'legs' because their new season starts late Feb so a Yank team might be prepared to pay something (more than English/European team) to get a season out of him. Otherwise I can't see the logic of selling, or buying, Teemu mid-season.
