And how Mount stayed on is baffling. That was an absolute shoite performance and I await Southgate's press conference and how he jutifies the performance and his decisions. The Mount playing every minute is even more baffling than the McLean situation at Norwich. It doesn't matter how abject he is, and he has been utterly abject consistently for England, he starts and is rarely subbed.
Ken Hairy 2,580 Posted November 25, 2022 Well we're pretty much through, but going out as soon as we face France, if we can get past Ecuador which I'm not so sure about.

Far too slow passing and no risk taking with the forward passes so round and round we go. Yawn or what!

keelansgrandad 5,387 Posted November 25, 2022 FA pick pragmatists as England coaches. Ericsonn, Capello, Allardyce, Hodgson, McClaren and now Southgate who had nothing except relegate Boro.

We didn't have a plan B, perhaps the occasional long diagonal to keep them guessing. Kane was a bit of a plodder and Christ knows why Foden didn't come on. Ken Hairy 2,580 Posted November 25, 2022 So the big question now is what do we do with James Corden??
keelansgrandad 5,387 Posted November 25, 2022 BBC reporting we were loudly booed off the pitch. Oh now that is so unfair. How can they be expected to play. Its hot, away from home, they are not allowed to rodger each other out there and nowbeing booed could send them over the edge.

Maybe the England players should take another knee and this time to raise awareness of the poor players? Maybe this time the Americans will join in too.. Branston Pickle 2,378 Posted November 25, 2022 Wow - that was pretty awful. But I suppose while we weren’t at the races we still limited them to very little In the way of chances. Need to improve massively to progress beyond the last 16.
Capt. Pants 2,568 Posted November 25, 2022 On a positive note; it's been a great week of football with England as good as through and humiliating defeats for Argentina and Germany. Plus Kenny signs a new contract!

Richard Richard 124 Posted November 25, 2022 The hype and delirium after the Iran win was a bit OTT, most of us said it at the time. This performance is a stark reminder of our recurring limitations playing through half-decent sides. USA were excellent to be fair, more than deserved their point. Lots of question marks over Southgate's selection or - more specifically - his substitutions. I'm hoping to see at least three or four changes to the starting eleven v Wales. Including Foden starting.
