Samwam27 601 Posted August 15, 2022 I'm not defending him, but you can't take the "we're hard to beat" in isolation as a comment or out of context. It's a weird thing to say, and it doesn't sound like it comes out right, but he goes on to explain it's a weird statement, in that none of the teams have troubled Krul, other than us gifting the opposition goals. I suppose what he's trying to say if you cut out the abject defending errors that have gifted goals, overall the teams haven't been troubling us, which is true, but you have to count the goals conceded & he could have said that in a way that doesn't rub us up the wrong way! Samwam27 601 Posted August 15, 2022 He comes across very relaxed, and almost that's it's all light hearted, which maybe is hard to take after two out of 3 defeats I really think he cares and wants to succeed with us, but I don't think that comes across in his interviews. What he says is like an oxymoron. "We're hard to beat" yet have lost 2 out of 3. But he does go on to explain what he meant by that comment. I can sort of see what he's saying, but it really is a weird statement, and comes across comical
Indy 3,471 Posted August 15, 2022 Historically we’re a team who conceded a lot of goals, even in our two championship winning seasons we were prone to giving away goals, but we scored more in most games. It’s just a daft thing to say considering the standard of the teams we’ve lost to! Huddersfield is a very different proposition, I’m not sure they’ll come here and park the bus, so should be a different type of game. But a clean sheet would be nice considering in we’ve conceded 68 goals in competitive games since Smith took control!
baldy09 194 Posted August 15, 2022 well WE are hard to beat= who can give away goals like we can- and who cannot score even with open goal- who have a manager so good has us and the list could go on😂

We are not the right club for him and nor him for us, unfortunately that's the way it goes sometimes.

Anyway, Dean Smith has obviously been asked a question but he would have been better off just deflecting onto another subject because you know a certain amount of fans will latch onto it and not listen to what he's saying. Similarly Farke couldn't win with some fans towards the end of his tenure, when every interview was ripped apart even though his manner and style hadn't changed from the title winning season. Farke got Farked over for poor recruitment and selling our star player. Took the fall because Webber couldn’t sack himself.
