Dean Smith "we're hard to beat"

Recommended Posts

“We are hard to beat”!!!!!!!???? We have lost two out of three so far. Cardiff and Hull with a draw at home against Wigan. Someone is assuming the supporters are stupid or blind. We are the very definition of “easy to beat”. Dean Smith needs to stop this kind of tosh dribbling out of his mouth.

2 defeats in 3 games would argue against that statement wouldn’t it.

if anything we are easy to beat. Every team in the league knows how to beat us. We don’t score more than 1 in a game for god knows how long.  so as long as they keep us out and nick one the worst they will get is a point

How’s the guy still here! Hard to beat, one win in 30 odd games would say we hardly ever win would be a true statement! Roeder mk 2.

It feels like he's trying to get away with as much as possible without getting the boot!

His Flat top has started to take root in his cerebellum.  The only possible explanation.

Soon our only tactical instruction will be for the opposition to "Eat my shorts".

I didn't hear the question but I sort of get what he might have been trying to say. I'd rather he said "we will be easy to beat if we keep making stupid errors and fail to take our chances, the players have to really step up now".

He's talking himself out of a job with that flannel.

Because we beat ourselves.

This. When the opposition undoes you with some great play or a spectacular shot you have to give them credit.

Far too often our players are the architects of their own undoing rather than the opposition, that’s continued straight into this season and it’s  really poor.

We must have the same friend. Otherwise there's two of them and that's hugely concerning.

Anyway, Dean Smith has obviously been asked a question but he would have been better off just deflecting onto another subject because you know a certain amount of fans will latch onto it and not listen to what he's saying.

Similarly Farke couldn't win with some fans towards the end of his tenure, when every interview was ripped apart even though his manner and style hadn't changed from the title winning season.

As opposed to securing his job I think he is looking for the sack and sooner rather than later.  Expect to see Kenny and Rashica retain their spots tomorrow and Gibbs and Sinani on the bench.  Is Hoggy mellowing to the opinions of most on here, doubtful.

If you translate the above clip into Farkian its pretty much the same as press conferences he did early on in seasons. He'd rant about being top of defensive topics and possession topics and how absurd it was that we had scored null. People didn't like it then either.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Gibbs, Sinani, Sara and Nunez all left out of the squad altogether. Something about rotation and fitness

I suppose he is right in one way. The opposition don't beat us. They sit back and wait for us to do it.

Seems like our mistakes contribute to our own failings. 70 % possession and still lose ??  Why did Pukki stay on ?

Sorry Hoggy I cannot let that statement go without expressing surprise that you have a friend! 😉

Farke was this disillusioned at the end, I doubt Smith is making it past September but I suspect that will be far too late for us to try and push for a top 2 finish. I'm estimating we will be 15 points behind the leaders come 1 October.

I think what he's trying to say is 'APART FROM the terrible individual errors we have been hard to beat'.

I understand what he's getting at but he couldn't have said it in a much more a nonsensical way. You can't ignore the bit that makes you one way to claim the other way. So apart from the bit that makes us easy to beat we are hard to beat. Apart from the wheels coming off the car is safe to drive. Apart from the vomit-inducing reaction the food was delicious!

In fact the suggestion that Hull and Cardiff haven't even had to trouble Krul in order to win these matches shows that opposite - we are actually extremely easy to beat.

If he'd said something like 'based on the overall performances of the last two league games, if we can cut out of the individual errors we will be a hard team to beat' then I think that makes a bit more sense. The ways he's said it is just a bit of an own goal with the fans really isn't it? Explains where the players get it from...
