Exactly this. Journalists with contacts and skills meaning they provide insight and stories ahead of them being readily available by everyone are what journalists should be. My issue with Pink Un is that we never actually get that from them, we get a version of a story from another source on Twitter or Michael Bailey rehashed and put out. Cambridge gets news on here faster than pinkun journos do.

The Pinkun fell out with Webber so they are now not as privvy to club news as they used to be, was my understanding.

Yes, but journalists usually have inside contacts that are not just the DOF so stories can gone out regardless.

From Paddy;

Sam McCallum (foot) had surgery on a metatarsal injury on Thursday. Out until after the World Cup (December).

It’s confirmed so perhaps they can now write a story; we definitely have a gap to fill unless Sorensen can do it again - but it’s for another 8 weeks.   At least Sara apparently came through the game ok.

Damn! He looked really good too. What awful luck for the kid. I wonder whether Gibbs could fill in. Good with both feet, huge amounts of energy, great passer, and strong in possession.

Looks like Sorensen will get another chance to show what he can do at left back. Did very well there before and likes getting forwards too. Pleased for him actually, it will give him a longer run in the team.

I doubt this will happen unless Sorenson is the next in line to get injured. It would help if Byram was back.

Smith said he hoped Byram would be available for the Millwall game.

If so, that's only two games without a recognised full back.

He's been saying similar for a couple of weeks. Will believe it when it happens.

I guess that's the 'straight bat' response the manager has got to give to appear like we are not too desperate to sign someone, to avoid potentially inflated price tags. I would be amazed if we haven't acquired a loan of a left-back before the end of the month, considering the  the major fixture congestion caused by the WC. We play almost a quarter of a season in the first 7 weeks, and almost half by the time the WC starts. Sam M. is basically out for half the season, and Dimi probably a third.

Can't see too many of those who have been around the first team during preseason and the first couple of games being loaned out either. Maybe Rowe / Springett if it wasn't for their injuries.

It's almost laughably bad luck to lose 2 LBs in 2 successive matches.

Didn't we have similar the season before at CB? Incredible bad luck, most teams will only have two for each position. Luckily we've got a versatile squad so Lungi, Aarons and Byram can all play there. Byram back soon by the sounds of it
