Seems we had some issues trying to get him in, brexit benefits and all that 😉

Since when has Bosnia and Herzegovina been an EU member state? Twit.

Yeah, this article has been discussed all day today on the transfer thread. Hell, you even commented on it yourself.

We've both defended him recently, for stimulating debate but he's testing my patience now by duplicating threads.

You can’t expect him to not start a thread for this clearly very important news, everyone’s desperate to hear about who we haven’t signed.

I must admit I've never been confident of understanding how the work permits were determined, but perhaps the fact he was playing in a Croatian league team would have been relevant. After all, Buendia is Argentinian and we managed to buy him from a Spanish side with no problems. I'm sure someone on the site will know the answer.

If a player had an EU passport they didn't need a work permit to play football in the English league.

Now that we're not in the EU that rule doesn't apply, and an EU player needs to be granted a work permit to play in the English league. Just like any other employment in fact.

That's the nuts and bolts of it. My understanding is that Mario Vrancic had a German passport, so was entitled to live and work in the UK.

Yep, as did/does Onel.

The private jet guessing game is absolutely one of the best bits of the close season, so no hard feelings here. Keep them coming!

Cheers! So it's possible Gojak might have had a Croatian passport and still qualified to play for Bosnia. Not that it is particularly relevant anymore.

Yes that is a possibility, that he has a Croatian passport, good point. Has been there for 7 years (obviously I have no idea how readily they dish those out, in some states its 5 years, in others its 10 years). Transfermarkt doesn't seem to think he has dual nationality, but then they may just not know.

Wouldn't worry about it anyway, we have no idea if he's any good do we. Good age, but not exactly a prolific goalscorer for an attacking midfielder considering Drmic just had a 21 goal season in that league!

Indeed! It seems the club showed considerable foresight in being very quick in focusing its attention on the South American market once the prospect of Brexit has ruled out any possibility of unearthing another Buendia. Fingers crossed that the Sara and Nunez deals prove Webber to have his mojo back.

Came here for the reference, thank you. Such a good show and disappointing season 6 had to be rushed to a conclusion (although they still did a great job of it).

Meanwhile absolute trash on Netflix continues to be reinstated for additional airtime...

Well I wouldn't take it to an open mic event if I were you.

I wonder if he would've made the same 'joke' if it was a failed transfer from South America...

Yes, one thing Webber can never be accused of is not having his finger on the pulse.
