Bradwell canary 109 Posted August 8, 2022 It seem that we are getting more and more midfielders on board. What has been missing most in our fleeting visits to the PL. Strikers! Pukki can't fault his efforts and workmate, but as Paul Lambert used to say, we need a bit more help. We have paid a massive price in not solving this ongoing problem. By the way another CH would be helpful....

Mason 47 1,379 Posted August 8, 2022 Our approach IMO seems a lot more based on the concept of 'forwards' not 'strikers'. As in the 3 set up in the final third are (meant to be) a mix of different attacking assets rather than wingers & strikers or #10s or whatever. The absolute key element for us is that central midfield area. It's key to supplying the forwards, it's key to unlocking our wing-backs, it's key to shielding the defence when we have a lot of men up. If Sara, Hayden and Nunez all hit fairly well then I'm comfortable with where we are at.
cambridgeshire canary 6,717 Posted August 8, 2022 God everyone was begging for us to buy more midfielders, we do. Then we moan we need strikers.

Maybe because we were so crap in most departments last season, & 2 games in we are still giving goals away & not taken our chances

Wigan gift us a gilt edge chance right at the start of the 2nd half, Rashica had all the goal to aim for, plenty of time to place it the other side of the goalkeeper, yet smacks it straight at Amos (If the roles had been reversed we would have been 2-0 down)

However our wide attackers are unfortunately not very good at kicking the ball into the goal. We don't really have anyone good enough to make the system work, which is why it's not worked so far.
