Plenty of votes coming for Eddie Shoestring and The Chinese Detective I reckon but what’s your personal choice? I’m a Cagney and Lacey fan myself but could never take to The Bill due to the poor acting.

I’ve not really watched many since NYPD Blue which I loved, but now I think about it, there were seasons one and two of True Detective which were great, and I was surprised quite how good The Responder was (and Martin Freeman, I’m not generally a fan).

I'll flip it and give you my most disappointing - Mark Billingham's Thorne series of books are really good but the TV adaption was terrible. Billingham himself picked David Morrissey to play the lead, I have to say he is one actor I take an instant and irrational dislike to, which probably didn't help!

Best is Frost though. David Jason is a god among men, if only he could play defensive midfield.

Sorry, we only watched the first episode of The Responder and I can’t believe that Martin Freeman thought he had nailed the accent-it was unbearable 😳

In a similar vein, the Rebus series were disappointing, especially the first ones.

Mine is from The Wirral, so not a proper scouser, but we didn’t rate it! Maybe we were just thrown by the fact that he sounded nothing like he usually does 😀

Yeah, the Wirral is “over the water” which always makes me laugh as it sounds like the States or a location far, far away. Not somewhere you can get to on the bus! 😂

Not that you’d want to get the bus, especially not the last one at night 😳-although I don’t think they run the late bus any more, and the last train is before midnight-if you want to stay out late it’s a taxi ride home 🤬

Does The Wire count?

That’s one of those programmes I’ve always meant to watch but never have.

(you can tell it’s the close season, we now have threads on here about TV series you haven’t watched)
