TheBaldOne66 768 Posted July 11, 2022 If, and it’s a big if for me, we do get promoted this coming season we will have to spend like never before if the prices currently being paid are anything to go by. When you have reserve team players like Nico Williams moving for 16million and players from the Championship moving for 15 million upwards it’s scarey to think how much players will go for next pre season. We just couldn’t compete with anyone at those prices as a self funding club sadly, so surely we have to start looking for more than the investment rumoured to be ongoing with Attanasio? We just don’t have the players coming through currently, other than Omo, as even Aaron’s doesn’t appear to have any suitors currently

Nuff Said 5,962 Posted July 11, 2022 Jeez, Attanasio’s interest isn’t even confirmed, and his money already isn’t enough. If Hayden and Sara work out and we go up, we would need a couple more players in the “quality not quantity” mould. With a following wind, if we keep Pukki, Krul, Hanley, Omo etc. we could then make a fist of staying up. Buy a couple more the following season, rinse and repeat. Simples, I don’t know why I don’t do this professionally. 🤪

In fairness, whether they were first choice or not is immaterial, those are the players you'd want in your squad out of the lot we have right now aren't they? You'd hope we'd have a heir apparent to the throne of Pukki by that point, but you also know what Pukki has and like a veteran seasoned warrior, he could come on and his runs still bamboozle opposition defences. Hanley at 31 would hardly be beyond a place, perhaps alongside younger players yes, but again, if Hanley is seen as the back-up to someone, they are going to be better, so again, decent to have in the squad. If you think you would look to replace them (assuming they don’t leave in the meantime) if we go up, I’d be interested to hear* how you’d fund a replacement of the whole squad. Because they’re probably the best of the current bunch as it stands. *Actually, this isn’t true, it’s a rhetorical device. I’m not remotely interested. You are aware that Ethics knows best aren't you Chickeno, he'd have this Club in Ship shape in two shakes of a Lambs tail...... If only someone would take him seriously.
