New Font on the South Stand

Recommended Posts

I'm guessing they will be changing the style of the signage on the City Stand too then.

Also do we get to put our font in the trophy cabinet as a club honour like the Binners?

Why is it that the club seems to always have plenty of money to spend on pointless vanity projects, every penny we can spare needs to be directed to the playing budget this season to maximise our chances of promotion?

Looking the part is also part of the game of attracting players to the club. It's the main reason we have invested so heavily in updating Colney in recent years

What was wrong with the classic font?

It has been used  since I was a wee nipper.

That font was long gone on the South Stand . The one being replaced wasn’t that .

As well as the accessibility issues and the old font looking hopelessly out of date in 2022, the other issue is that the legacy font isn't copyrighted by the club. It's called Dauphin and is freely usable by everyone and anyone.

Whatever the new font is, it will have been specifically created for the club and thus their copyright and theirs alone. It's very common in business to take an existing font and then make small changes to it to personalise it for a business/brand.

Doesn't suit the narrative sir.  Change is never good.

Did they start putting the new one up yet or did they have to make way for Elton John punters arriving and get rid of the crane?

Every penny going into the playing budget leads to stagnation in facilities and other programmes.

Its just some old signage getting updated.

Its a hell of a lot of signage though, I'm assuming it includes the badge on the colney building, the badge above the city stand directors entrance, the badge on the wrought iron gate at Carrow Road, the badge on the similar iron gate at Colney etc?

Think there is a huge one inside the indoor training pitch also. Its quite a big undertaking to correctly implement a full rebrand?

Still. its done now, oh well. Just think these things cost a lot more than some are crediting.

It's clearly the influence of the US investors. It'll be unveiled as the Milwaukee Soccerball Fans Experience South Stand for the first day of the season.

But you appreciate the difference between a stadium and a football club, right?  The stadium has it's own thing going on outside of football, and itself is a source of income.

It's only the right thing to put that money into the branding and giving the place a facelift so it advances as an attractive venue.

Probably cost us less than loaning one of Kabak's legs for the season, and unlike him will be here for years to come.

The club badge is being changed mate, what part of complete rebrand are you having trouble understanding?

Not too bad at all - that wispy effort was well beyond looking ‘good’.

Having a standard font/feel to the club/any business makes good sense, some organisations feel the need to do it far too regularly and then it is really just a case of the emperor’s new clothes.  Once in, what, 30 years seems fine to me.

The whole rebrand probably costs less than our weekly wage budget.

Is that more or less than Soccerbot 360?

The only trouble I'm having is by clicking 'show this post', clearly.

Probably slightly less, I reckon Soccerbot wasn't much more than a couple of weeks wages though, if that.  Certainly on the lower end if we were still in the Prem.

You can prove anything with facts 😉

Not sure what you mean - this presumably won’t be just the South Stand, the font etc will be replicated elsewhere.
