Isaac Hayden to sign?

Recommended Posts

Good age, plenty of top-flight experience, just got left behind in the turnover at Newcastle, and most importantly, we have an option to buy. That is a shrewd move.

This and getting Omo tied down is a very good start.

What I liked reading was that he was fined for ranting at a referee, a facet of football where I think we are lacking, but turns out it wasn't in the the man's face during the game but only on twitter afterwards...

Happy with this for a stop gap whilst in the Champ,

But I pray we haven't got a mandatory promotion clause in there

Wouldn't want to be building a Premier League team around him.

Whilst true, it’s gotta be better than going into the prem with zero defensive mids like this time

As said good signing if he can stay fit. Hasn't played a competitive game since a big knee operation and sometimes players struggle to get back after that. In his own words from February

" It's been a tough 12 months for me, with injuries massively affecting my availability for the club"

Let's hope he can stay fit.

He is a typical Dean Smith signing & I don’t mean that in a derogatory way. He’s big/strong & quite quick from what I’ve read about him, I’m really pleased with this signing.

Imagine him instead of Gilmour last season?

What a great signing, and obligation to buy is just the icing on the cake.  This has cured me of the blues of losing Normann - who I felt was a decent player, Isaac similar but more robust and athletic.

Can't lie:  The thought of him playing in front of Big Andy is giving me a full-on robo chubby!!! 🤖🍌

Interesting snippet from the North East.

Norwich have an obligation to make the deal for Hayden permanent should 'specific performance-related criteria' be met throughout the 2022/23 season.

I suppose he meets the criteria he'll be a good buy.

Well, if he doesn’t it’ll be good bye 😀!

He had 9 games out with a knee injury at the end of 20/21, and missed another 13 games from the end of December onwards after knee surgery-didn't make the squad again last season but that's probably due to the fact that Newcastle had strengthened their squad rather than he wasn't fit. Apart from that, he hasn't had any other concerning injuries on the last 5 seasons so if his knee holds up he should do well. Likes to get tackles in, which is something that we've definitely lacked recently. Averages a booking every 4 or 5 games.

Maybe Todd can give him some pointers about his social media interactions?

Anyone notice how apparently happy he is to be closer to 'home', which I guess is Chelmsford?  That really works in our advantage having a player already invested in the club because of our location.  Usually, it's a negative factor.

Hate to **** on your slightly bent sparkler, but the loan is subject to a permanent deal if we're happy with him.

I've already seen a lot of Newcastle fans being very complimentary about him and saying he'll do a great job for us.

Positive stuff

Doesn't sound like a player who really needs to drop down a level to get a game. Very good signing.

Yep, a lot of Geordie fans on our FB pages and on theirs wishing him the best of luck and lauding his commitment/character. Bodes well if he's got this knee injury behind him.

A solid signing, capable of performing in the Prem. Am slightly wary he's a big unit with recent knee issues, but time will tell.

Very pleased with this signing. Would have been more confident with him in our midfield over anything we had in the prem last season, so can only be a good thing for the championship.

Sounds like there is an option to make permanent on promotion as well.

A good signing for sure, but one we should have (and could have?) made 3 seasons ago

Actually a good signing to kick off our summer window by solving a huge hole in the middle of the pitch. If Lungi isn't good enough we need to sign another to go with him. A shame it's come a season too late

You've got to love the wider view of us from other fans, shared this new signing on Facebook, within a few minutes I have a QPR supporting 'friend' and a Sheff Wednesday supporting 'friend' both say the same thing "spending big bucks again then"

No context, no looking into the permanent deal at the end, just the opportunity to automatically go to the "oh cheap Norwich" jibe again because it's a loan..

(My reply being you we'll just ignore the fact of how well both your clubs are doing and how you would love a signing of his calibre)

Just irks me slightly, (and yes I'm well aware it shouldn't and I should let it go but there ya go alot irks me lately)

Very strong first signing! I thought Webber didn’t do any business in June, his words!🤪

Must be a Smith signing!😂👍
