Now it's maybe not pie in the sky...

Does anyone have any ideas on how this 'fan vote' on new investment could actually work?

Shareholders only? Season ticket holders? Members?

Personally I think it's one of those ideas best quietly left on the drawing board. I can only imagine how divided and toxic the fanbase could get if the investment gets voted down.

There isn't going to be a fan vote on it.  There is a consensus amongst fans fully in support of it! 😉

Look, if you are looking at injecting cash into a club are you going to let your involvement go down to a vote? Who does that?

prediction - it won’t happen

I’d be out with my pitchfork if it got voted down. Simply must happen.

They'll just ask Jim, he knows what the fans think.

That would be the most Norwich thing ever for fans to turn it down 😂

Hold a county-wide referendum.

We know how well referendums bring people together!

Or even a meeting at St. Andrews hall. 😀

Surely their wouldn't be a fan vote for investment. When it came to a complete takeover then perhaps, but if that's after a couple years successful with them on the board the vote would be fairly straight forward?

Wasn’t it just on change of ownership not investment?

It entirely depends how much the prospective investors want it to happen and how interested they are in the dynamics of the relationship with the fan base after they have invested. A vote involving fans absolutely would make sense if they're looking to invest enough for a controlling stake, which means their capital investment would be upwards of £150m.

Norwich has an outstanding reputation for prioritising doing business in a sustainable way and the fact they're interested in talking to the board about investment suggests that's an ethos compatible with their own mentality. If they're entering into this in the right spirit, which I think they must be for the board to be entertaining them so hospitably, then the fan vote seems like a perfect way to usher the deal in given that it seems almost inconceivable to me that the investment would be rejected by fans.

Come on Ken give him a little leeway he has had a hard couple of days patrolling this forum virtually 24/7 since the news broke. 😜

I recently put all of Delia's recent interview comments about Norwich in a different thread. Here they are again for your info:

Will she ever sell to a wealthy foreign buyer? We are speaking before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, after which Roman Abramovich was forced to give up Chelsea. “Well, you can never say never. We get criticism, you know, when things aren’t going well: ‘They should give up now, let us have a nice rich whatever.’ But I wouldn’t be able to do it without being sanctioned by the supporters. Because I wouldn’t like to go to bed at night and know I’d given it to the wrong ones, and there’s a lot of very, very wrong ones in football.”

What about Norwich City? No, she and Michael are not selling, though if someone reasonable with money to spend came along, they would ask the supporters to vote on it.

She and her husband are both 80 with no children, so what happens to their 52 per cent stake in the Premier League club they have held since 1997 has become significant. There was talk of a family member inheriting, but that is not happening.

She said that the “billions” of other clubs made progress difficult for Norwich, but suggested that although no outside financier with similar funds had yet approached her about investing in the club, any investment of this kind would be decided by supporters.

To be honest it seemed to have been a bit of a throwaway line in an interview so not sure.

Looks like it from the quotes & would be logical. They’ve never held votes on projects to raise capital before, and why would they particularly.

If a minority shareholding involving cash injection was intended to test the waters for both sides whilst demonstrating $goodwill & intent, before a possible future takeover down the line, you’d expect a vote to be called at that point. It would represent a probation period of sorts.
