Predict Webbers interview

Recommended Posts

Relationship with Dean & Shakey is good, at early stages, Dean is trying to find the formula, his planning has been stop start with injuries.  Pre-season is for him to mould Norwich's future and a formula that works.  He is super excited for next season.

Cheers for this Shef, I’ll sit down and watch it later in full but good to get the highlights. Not sensing a lot of humility from him though.

Asks fans to get behind the club, Dean and players in the new season.  Excitement will build quite quickly.  A lot has been made of 20 people with a bedsheet.  Season ticket sales demonstrates commitment.  We don't have a sulking manager or players who want to leave.  The majority of fans stayed after Spurs to clap the team off.  We are trying to win and the fans can see that and that the club is in a healthy state.  We all want the same things, all care about the club, the owners care about the club.  If we focus on what has gone wrong that will be depressing, let's focus on what went right!

On Norwich not trying in the EPL in the media, it is what it is and try to ignore it.  Mentioned a chat with Eddie Jones England rugby manager.  An aside about not reading about what local media said, but it was pointed out to him.

Overriding message to the fans.  It's their club, its for the local community, its a sport and entertainment and is here for generations. Stick with their club.  Owners, himself, players are only part of the journey.  Get behind the players and the club.  He hands his office on to someone, fans need to keep the legacy going.

And its over.

Initial thoughts are in a safe environment (Alice did have some tough questions, but didn't necessarily go off script) he talks a good talk.

There was no real detail really though, apart from the Farke sacking, which again his answer looked strange in hindsight - what if they'd lost at Brentford, his platitudes would not have been said!  there was no mention of rolling one year contracts or much about the Everest trip at all apart from him training for it.  A weird omission.

Some discussion about close season but no real detail, not sure why Onel and Todd got a special mention?

Fixation on the long term legacy, 40 years plus, not the short term.  Clear distinction about what Huddersfield, Sheff Utd & Brentford have done to stay up a year, but then fail in the 2nd year!  It's almost as if relegation this year was again part of the plan!

From my perspective, he stuck to his area of the club, painting a picture of progress off the pitch  continuing apace.  However no mention of the problems in the non-playing area that I and many others are concerned about so this it will not satisfy there is plan regarding our concerns.  Basically season ticket sales remain healthy, so fans it is over to us to make it happen!!!

no questions about not replacing skipp, no questions about selling beundia, no questions about the timing of the farke sacking and who was in the frame, no questions about the succession planning for after webber.

"The fans give up quickly."

"How quickly people went after us."

"Everyone's given up."

"Not my fault."

One of the above is not a true quote.

Very choreographed and rehearsed. Hints at the fans being to blame. No self-reflection or acceptance of any fault.

Annoyingly, not much to indicate he'll be doing what this club needs and fu(king off.

I mean we did give up quickly, because from the get go it looked like more of the same. We didn't appear anymore competitive than in previous seasons.

Nice cosy, choreographed interview conducted by somebody on the inside.

Absolute joke, have some f*cking balls and talk to the local media.

Only took him two minutes to shift the blame onto us

It's always been our fault didn't you know?

Silly natives we are.

I wonder what the two big announcements are going to be in a couple of weeks. I liked the majority of what Stuart had to say, but no matter what he says, some people will have it in for him unfortunately. But I'm looking forward to the new season.

Truthfully not really Shef! And what was lacking from her was any kind of real pushback against the answers she was getting. She did a decent job of raising issues fans wanted Webber to talk about but then allowed what he said to go unchallenged.

Assuming that is that Webber has taken the coward's way out by not talking to the professional independent journalists who wanted to interview him and who would not have given him such an easy ride.

I did say she didn't go off the script but yes, he got an easy time, it does seem a safe way of going about it.

He did say in the interview that other people who had a similar role in other club's don't do public interviews, but the lack of a CEO / Chairperson means that's one of the burdens he has to bear like it or not.  If he doesn't like then he should push the Board to change things.  If Smith & jones don't like the current PR hopefully they will take this as a reason to reset corporate governance within the club.

There got my favourite hobby horse back in again!  🙂 It's all about a lack of accountability!

Local media are soft as ****e though, wouldn't have been any different.  I'd rather he appeared on the TNC channel and took questions that way.

I mean, he's never going into depth on the finances and why such signings were made, if we find out that 90% of the signings were second or third choices it don't look too good does it! 🙂

Only reason we're seeing some balls from them at the moment is because they're complaining about being ignored, there's never been actual deep journalism or hard questions being answered in years. When has the pinkun uncovered some kind of exclusive?!

It's news aggregation that they do, and a free pass to ask basic questions post match.  Too scared to rock the boat, well and truly in bed with the club over the years.

They are being ignored because they attacked Webber for the 90 per cent thingy. That came first. But I agree that over the  years they have avoided deep journalism and hard questions. Recently though there has been a bit of a harder edge.

The most predictable thing is that people are upset about the responses before the interview has been published and they'll be even more gnashing of teeth once it's been aired.

Followed by days and days of analysis of every word and phrase until someone demands another interview because they didn't like the content of the one we've just had.

Jim will make something up.

Vince will blame the socialists.

Essex Canary will complain that he didn't get tickets for Chelsea away and request a freebie for people with 1,000 shares.

Lots of other people will miss the point that he's trying to make.

How am I doing so far?

They wouldn't have pushed any further than this interview does, and the article would probably be vetted before it went out too.  Which is the point I was making.

It's like Paddy saying on stream earlier how there needs to be questions that go more in depth on 'why' specific players were bought in above the likes of Billing etc.   It's all very well saying this when critiquing the interview put out, but they wouldn't ask those kind of deeper probing questions anyway.  I've never ever seen them push for such specifics as that.

But hey, just my perspective. 🙂

If you mean vetted by the club then no, that would not have happened.
