It was mentioned in his autobiography, published in 2011.

Could be that the press at the time was about Carl Moore helping pay the transfer fee, wages might have been less clear?

Huckerby was a very poor host, a number of people complained. I spoke to the new man v West Ham and asked him why he waited so long to give team news at the previous match - his first. He said he was asked to hold back until the live tv match had finished. I can assure you he was there well before 2 for both matches so far.

I saw him leaving the Gunn club shortly before  the West Ham game, he was in a whistle etc but obviously I can’t say if he had just been sacked or not, or which flora or fauna had replaced him if so.

So to clarify, rather than Huckerby's criticism of the club to be trusted because he is an employee, in fact it is open to serious question because he was recently sacked by the club...
