canarybubbles 2,199 Posted April 16, 2022 Everyone has got so excited about Fulham this season, but they now have to win all their remaining five games to top the 97 points we got last season. Our achievement last year was undervalued, probably because of lockdown.
TIL 1010 5,246 Posted April 16, 2022 Well can i just say i have not got so excited about Fulham this season.
cambridgeshire canary 7,798 Posted April 16, 2022 Everyone? Could you define everyone?
Newtopia 573 Posted April 16, 2022 I think the definition of ‘excited’ probably also needs clarifying.
Thirsty Lizard 3,215 Posted April 16, 2022 The OP is correct. There has been an awful lot of fawning over Fulham and their 'marvellous attacking football' etc in the media and online.

Is that not marvellous attacking football?
Capt. Pants 5,008 Posted April 16, 2022 All I know is I wish we were going up rather than going down. Another missed opportunity. But hopefully 3 points today to keep a glimmer of hope alive.
aBee 176 Posted April 16, 2022 I’m mainly enjoying the anticipation of them being relegated next season.
Branston Pickle 4,150 Posted April 16, 2022 (edited) I was having a look at the Champs table earlier this week - I didn’t check back but it does seem that there is a much lower points tally to be in the top 2/3 and then the play off places, which does suggest the quality is quite ‘similar’ below the top sides this year….make of that what you will, it could be they are all average, or all really quite good! I’ve been to a lot of Bees games over the years, but not managed to get to the new ground yet. I do wonder if there will be quite the same level of ‘nastiness’ aimed at them if it happens… Edited April 16, 2022 by Branston Pickle

They've scored lots of goals so well done to them. I notice they've already lost one more game than we did in the whole of last season. I guess it suggests they're flat track bullies or got a bit of a soft underbelly compared to our team which won the Championship last season.
chicken 3,086 Posted April 16, 2022 (edited) Mitrovic has 38 goals to his name... can't see that tally getting beaten anytime soon. Mind you, with a squad worth £100m+ I'm not sure what you'd expect. Edited April 16, 2022 by chicken
Christoph Stiepermann 1,261 Posted April 16, 2022 (edited) That Mitrovic has never made a splash at PL level has always been a mystery to me. Maybe it's just because Fulham are usually as rubbish as we are at this level and don't create enough chances but i can't help but think if you stuck him up front at a team like Brighton or Wolves he'd get 15+ goals a year. If you put a good cross into him when he's in a good position defenders are powerless to deal with him in the air Edited April 16, 2022 by Christoph Stiepermann

hogesar 10,763 Posted April 16, 2022 They've already conceded more than we did in our championship winning season, and we know how much harder goals are to come by in the Prem - Mitrovic isn't getting 30 for them next season.

My feeling is that this has been a below-par Championship, certainly not a patch on the 18/19 season with us, Sheff Utd, Leeds, West Brom, Villa and Derby all being decent teams capable of a top-two finish if placed in this year's league. It is looking likely that several teams will make the play-offs with less than 80 points this season (compare League One, where it is looking like one team may miss out with more than 80 points). I think next season will be much more competitive.
glory.win or die. 273 Posted April 16, 2022 The league has been very average this season. You can bet next year if we get 85-90 points there will be 3 or 4 other teams close too, not like this year
