Here in Sheff, some Blades fans still haven't got over that day Farke's team beat them 1-0 at Bramall Lane; a litany of complaints, the bus turning up late, the falling over at the slightest knock, serious injuries every five minutes or so, the age that goal kicks took etc.  Now whenever a team they play start timewasting they sing the "Play The Norwich Way" song.  Infamy! 🙂

Athletico have been notorious since I was a teenager. I'm pretty certain they were kicked out of the European Cup many moons ago. They do recruit Argentinians who, if I may quote the NI Women's Coach, "emotional".

I loved the footage of the tunnel. Usual footballers. Hold me back, hold me back, while backing off. "I would have killed him if you hadn't held me back".

Get on with it if you are that upset.

Johnny Giles giving a 'fired-up' Kevin Keegan a short lesson. Notable for how his Liverpool colleagues barely stuck up for him.

One thing that bugged me was the hypocrisy and bias of BT's coverage last night.

They criticised Atletico for their gamesmanship and time-wasting against Man Utd in the last round, but it was no worse than Man City's last night; there were three players who went down with 'injuries' in the closing stages only to bounce back up within a minute and they didn't condemn it at all.

Also, Foden went down screaming in agony and holding his leg after Felipe's swipe at him (deserved second yellow for the petulant kick out after the ball had gone, but contact was minimal) and then rolled three or four yards back on to the pitch to waste him. Had that been João Felix or Thomas Lemar at the other end, the pundits would have hammered the feigning of injury, the rolls and the time wasting but because Foden is English, it was conveniently ignored.

Obviously Atletico's behaviour was poor towards the end of the game; Man City were wasting time but Atletico completely lost their heads at times, but had the boot been on the other foot and it was Atletico wasting time, I'm sure the blame would've been placed at the door of the team who were time-wasting.

And I'm not criticising Man City or Foden for their tactics by the way because every team does it, but just the complete lack of balance in the coverage.

Exactly the point I was trying to make. you have been more articulate that me.

Although as has been pointed out on here - Lescot did mention about Foden.

Did nobody notice Foden had a bandage on his head? And it was needed because we saw the blood as they were treating him. Then the petulant shove by Savic (ex ManC reject of course) on him after the ball had gone out of play. And they targeted him all night.

Do you know what? I would have taken the pish out of him and Felipe all night by feigning injury. Its the best way to get back at them. There is still battles in football and the first thing you have to do is let your opponent you are more skillful, faster or stronger, or all three.

Felipe whiplashed Foden after the tackle and that is one of the most dangerous in football. I hope he gets a large ban.

Of course we are picking up infuriating tactics in our game. The continentals have done it for years. And didn't we look to waste time on Sunday? And didn't we get into bed with time wasting not long ago to the anger of the Blades?

I can never understand why they don't have a clock like they do in other sports. Stop it the second the ball goes out of play or the whistle blows. I know games would only be about 60 minutes or whatever (the time the ball is in play) but the deliberate wasting of time is one of the most infuriating things about "professionalism."

I also think it would be quite fun to count down the clock in a tight game - ten, nine, eight etc - I'd love to do it vs Ipswich if we ever get to play them again.

As soon as the referee failed to book Felipe after the first Foden challenge then Atletico had a measure of playing to the extreme. As Felipe refused to leave the field the ref should continue to show him multiple red cards for dissent. He could also have carded Simeone for his behaviour too.

I must admit, the hypocrisy from the crying Atletico players and owner today has been most amusing 😁

Was a great game to watch and reminded me of now today's game is now such a sterile, boring watch... Great that Man City with stood the antics & went on...
