Apparently kicking off with Grealish in the tunnel, police involved. Vile, disgusting club

Leeds of old would murder them, Savic thinking he's a hard man by pulling Grealish hair like a big girl. They're just bad losers, symptomatic of their piece of **** manager (still not forgiven the **** for 98 😂).
Greavsy 2,584 Posted April 13, 2022 Foden rolled back onto the pitch to delay the match. Is everyone going to ignore that?

Greavsy 2,584 Posted April 13, 2022 Agreed, just amazes me that no one mentioned Foden rolling back onto the pitch. The reaction was over the top, agreed.

Ken Hairy 4,204 Posted April 13, 2022 Lescott mentioned it. I'm still utterly gobsmacked VAR didn't advise the ref, who totally lost control, to send off Savic, he could have gone twice in that moment. Aren't we told VAR being crap is limited to the use of it in the Premier league?

Not at all, just they moan about the unsporting behavior, but as soon as a citeh / English team player does something unsporting, it's hardly mentioned. That's my point. Hank shoots Skyler 2,094 Posted April 13, 2022 Thing is Athletico are one of the worst sides I’ve seen for time wasting, petulance to the ref, play acting, dirty fouling etc etc etc. You’d think they’d be a bit more street smart when on the receiving end of a bit back. Yes Foden was cheeky to roll back on to the pitch, but he did get an almighty boot from Felipe - a pretty justified reaction for what was arguably a straight red card. Then the following reaction from Savic was totally out of control. What Foden did would be food and drink behaviour for an Athletico player. Yet they can’t take it. Simeone as well. No way would the Man City players have reacted like that to Athletico if the shoe was on the other foot. Imagine if Athletico had to play against Athletico, I bet the game wouldn’t even reach the final whistle… Overall very enjoyable watching them lose it though, much like a PSG blow up, I’d have much preferred Man City scored a couple to make them truly lose the plot though 😆. Their fans are pretty great though tbf.

Agreed not as unsporting as the following reactions but still unsporting, and my point was more about how the commentator / media generally ignored that. Jambomo 215 Posted April 13, 2022 I must have missed something in that coverage because all I saw in the replay was Savic trying to roll Foden back on but honestly, they are going on like he’s committed some kind of assault. What else did he do?
Duncan Edwards 2,371 Posted April 13, 2022 (edited) 19 minutes ago, Hank shoots Skyler said: Was it that unsporting? If it was a dive I’d agree but he had just been booted completely on purpose… Didn’t see it, so can’t make an informed call but, while it is “unsporting”, would it be right/fair for Atletico to gain a man advantage while he received treatment if the foul play was deliberate? Swings and roundabouts I guess, but these days I’m never that convinced just how badly players need treatment in the first place, it seems pretty common to go down and stay down to break up the game, relieve pressure and allow the team to reset positionally. Seems to me that everyone and anyone is looking for any marginal gain and that sportsmanship is often regarded as “naivety” by lots of pundits. How often do we here about players looking for contact or having the right to go down etc? An uglier part of the game for sure. Boooo. Modern football. I can’t take the moral high ground though, was it Leroy Lita who years ago (maybe against Wolves?) pointed out some blood on a defender/shirt and they were made to go off and we scored from that very set piece? I guess that is just application of the rules but it felt like it was a touch of genius at the time… Edited April 13, 2022 by Duncan Edwards

Worst timewasting / unsporting/ cheating team to face us? Nominations please? I mean... time wasting is just gamesmanship, Krul can be erm, great at it sometimes! If you are considering time wasting and gamesmanship then some of the very top sides are experts at it. Ferguson's Man Utd managed to get Fergie time when they needed it and were pretty good at wasting time too. Obviously Roy Keane was partial to putting players to the sword too. Barcelona in the early to mid 2000's had this way of disrupting play so the opposition couldn't get a rhythm, little fouls that weren't yellows. Pretending every throw was theirs and get a player to pick the ball up to take it just to slow it down, get their players back in position. Literally anything they could do to put a side off their stride when they didn't have the ball. I mean it was genius. As a neutral it was frustrating as they were using every trick in the book, and well, not in the book, to slow down opponents and stop them from getting any sort of tempo going. Quite happy to chop players down when needed too. Xavi and Basquets could be robust and hatchet men when needed that's for sure. Ugly, thuggish hackers? Any side with Kevin Muscat in it for starters. Wimbledon of the crazy gang era. There was a Blackburn side, tail end of the 1990's I reckon, who had been relegated to the old Division One and had Mark Hughes playing in it. That was quite brutal. Though Darrell Russell as a youngster played the antagonist perfectly and got Hughes sent off by winding him up enough with comments he kicked out at him. I want to say it was a Boxing Day match. Leeds have to be one of the longest serving thuggish teams. Wolves prior to their change of ownership and style direction. Andy Johnson used to cheat a hell of a lot for Fulham. As soon as he crossed the line into the box it was like his shoelaces were tied together. VAR would have had a field day with him had it of been around back then. He'd have picked up a yellow every other game at least just for simulation. Oh, and Joey Barton, thug as a player, thug as a manager, thug generally as a human. Lovely chap... 😅 The doing it to your own side award goes to Newcastle though, with Lee Bowyer and Kieran Dyer having a spat on the pitch. Not that Bowyer didn't come with his own reputation on and off the pitch from Leeds. Whippet of a chap too. Vinnie Jones would have had him down a peg or two... Dennis Wise too. Good old fashioned stramash. Love it. We at Norwich are pussycats. Need a game like that now and then. Some need to take a trip to South America and witness some action. 🤣 Fans were brilliant.thats what you call real atmosphere. I've seen a few brilliant top level games in the last few days. Excellent football at the highest level. Cmon Norwich get the boot in to these Man u fan*ies. Get in there big Grant.🤣🥳
