dylanisabaddog 5,629 Posted April 8, 2022 Is anyone else concerned that Government appears to be blocking the media from reporting the fuel problem? Isn't that their job? If I want to know what's going on I have to take my chances with the local Facebook group (most of its participators want to go and flog those responsible but can't because they haven't got any fuel to get there). Added to that we have the unenforced sale of Channel 4 which seems to have been brought about out of pure spite. Thought I'd post this as I've just heard a raving loony on the radio suggesting, without irony, that the Russian Government can do as it pleases because it controls the media. Is the government blocking the media on this topic? One thing is for sure, the usual overly exited media reporting that we have seen in the past will only make the situation far worse...... tricky one. Maybe the media is just acting responsibly, would be interested to know?

Maybe the media is just acting responsibly, would be interested to know? Hmmmm. You may have a point but frankly I don't see how it could get any worse. There is no diesel in Norwich. I know a couple of people who are self employed who now can't work because they can't get fuel for their vans. It is quite obvious that it is being blocked by the BBC in fact one caller was told on Radio 5 yesterday that "we're not allowed to mention that". At the same time social media is awash with it. There is obviously a news story in how it's being decided who gets the fuel available but it clearly isn't Norfolk. I have a lot of sympathy with the views of the protestors but at the same time I'm astonished that the Government didn't see this coming. They don't seem to have a plan for anything but simply seem to lurch from one crisis to another. If I was a bit more cynical I may think that the news block is simply to cover up their own incompetence.

Following that logic would of cause lead to further shortages ( of news ).
horsefly 5,048 Posted April 8, 2022 This brief exchange is the perfect illustration of why it is not "mere fluff" when you have a PM and government distinguished by their willingness to break laws, lie and dissemble to serve their own interests.

How many Boris supporters does it take to change a light bulb? None! Boris tells them he's done it and they sit in the dark applauding. That really sums up how I feel at the moment. I'm quite sure there are some very competent, even talented, MP'S in the Conservative Party but none of them are in Government. Worrying times. 2

No. It's because the fuel storage depots have been blocked by climate protesters. The fuel that is available isn't coming to Norfolk. If you live elsewhere in the country you won't know this because the media isn't reporting it. My neighbour's family have arrived from Midlands/North for the weekend and have no way of getting back at the moment.
Tetteys Jig 845 Posted April 8, 2022 Didn’t know it was this bad, only seen a few Norfolk based tweets about it. Then again I’m stuck at home with Covid so haven’t seen a petrol station in a few days!

The Real Buh 3,601 Posted April 9, 2022 Look. Climate change is real and will be solved by clever people. Scientists, engineers, innovators. it won’t be solved by politicians (who are all useless and corrupt, supporting one side or another makes you a very, very stupid person) and it won’t be solved by extinction rebellion and all of its offshoots who, let’s face it, are domestic terrorists and although it’s not official the intelligence community will be treating them as such. it’s only a matter of time before one of these guys lunges at the queen or something and then they can be put on the register with Al quaeda and the rest of them. Not sure about that. Despicable terrorists? That is very strong for a load of unwashed vegans with dreadlocks and camouflage coats.
KiwiScot 1,645 Posted April 12, 2022 Noticed a sign at the local Tesco for the last 2 days saying no diesel.
