This time we spent money which makes the abject performances much worse to stomach. At least last time we could say “it’s a free hit - we are banking the money for championship push” - this time we have spent the money really, really badly and will have nothing much left for a push once loans depart etc…am fully expecting a difficult few seasons ahead

And also no attempt to remedy this in January is almost unforgivable, particularly with Lungi struggling for fitness.

I do think as fans we do have a right to question why no attempt was made to improve our lot in January, especially with a new manager. Can we accept simply 'there is no money'? Could we not have tried to move some players on to generate funds? Revisit loans? Free transfers?

All we heard was 'We're happy with the squad'

'We're happy with the squad' needs some serious scrutiny. Personally Id be shocked if 'No funds in January' wasnt a condition of taking the job when it came to our new manager.

Well, the result's clearly in. I can't believe that those of us on here are so unrepresentative of Norwich fans in general that we can ignore the percentages. Even allowing for the recency fallacy, this season feels much worse for most of us than that of two seasons ago.

So if the above is so weighted in that this season is worse than others yet we have spent or traded more players then the scouting / Webber needs to be held accountable.

Its one thing not being good enough but very poor to not learn and improve even slightly .

This team are more boring to watch but I’d call it a dead heat on which team are worse.

COVID lockdown killed our momentum as we had started to put a few results together. On that basis I’d say the current team is far worse.

We didn’t even replace Skipp with a similar style player though, none of our midfielders specialise in breaking up play and enforcing things like Skipp did. Lewis OBrien from Huddersfield is a prime example of an affordable player we should have been in for that would have replaced Skipp even if he wasn’t quite as good as Skipp himself. The Gilmour deal just looks baffling now as I’m not really sure what the plan was if we never planned to stick him next to an enforcer type.

Perhaps Lees Melou was supposed to be that guy?

As for Emi, sure we could never replace him but we should have done far better than Sargent and Tzolis for £20m. I think Rashica will still work out to be decent business though.

I think Normann was meant to be that player to replace Skipp. He certainly talked the talk when he arrived. Perhaps with Sorensen stepping up.

Though I'm not sure if we were trying to find a more balanced midfield perhaps with responsibilities shared. I don't think PLM was seen as the out and out DM, more a box to box type.

We were forever told that Normann wasn’t that player when he joined and that we were trying something different; sharing the defensive load around the midfield 3. Needless to say it failed miserably.

Oh for sure, that's what I meant in my 2nd paragraph. However, he did say in interviews that he liked to get stuck in, win the ball back and spray it about...

Overall, I think the current squad has better players. Unfortunately the midfield area is the one part of that squad which is significantly worse, which has meant the results haven't followed, irrespective of the style of play.

I've been watching Norwich play for over 50 years and I can't remember another time when we didn't have one midfield/creative player who was exciting to watch, going all the way back to Bryceland, Paddon, Crook and then to Hucks, Maddison, Hoolahan and Buendia.

We simply have no player who makes me sit up. Not one.

I've said the same thing. Even poor teams you still have that player you think, if he brings his A-game he might pull it out of the bag.

We dont have any players who can do something a bit special. The much maligned Murphy twins could pull a long-range shot out of nowhere sometimes, the first players we had for a long time who could do that after seeing it done to us time and again. Holt might get on the end of something, Hoolahan might split the defence, Pilkington or Redmond might go on a run, Huckerby might jink into the box.

But this team? Buendia and Hernandez were probably those two flair players, Vrancic to some degree. Not one of them replaced

This has been grim, absolutely grim.

Last time up it was a young, cheap squad that lost it's way after the restart and where we had no fit centre backs during probably the key part of the season. No newly promoted side would have thrived with Tettey playing at CB.

I knew when we went up last time that it would take a lot of luck for us to stay up, that it was clearly too soon and that unless we got onto a real roll to build confidence we would be coming straight back down. Que Sera.

This season has been an utter waste of money and time. I actually don't even care if it is Webber, the owners, Farke, Smith, bad luck, bad tactics, bad signings, a bad board, a league which is stacked to the hilt with stupid money and ridiculous 'business' practices or just the work of some demonic footballing god that means we look like bemused children whenever we are confronted with the premier League but tbh I'm done with this now.

There's no joy in promotion, not a lot of despair in relegation and yet I have absolutely no desire to see us stagnate in the Championship or be yet another play thing for some horrendous regime or an American conglomerate that would happily rip the soul out of the game if it made it more like the NFL.

For me this project was the last realistic hope of football I can enjoy returning to the overly commercialised, morally bankrupt world of elite English football. So I will keep watching my club here in Belgium, hope something changes in the UK and wish the rest of you who either don't see the world as I do, or have more stamina for this than me, to enjoy it as best you can. Good luck to all of you.

This years team is worse but also more unlikeable. The fact the fans had more of a connection to the 19/20 lot may be colouring perspectives.

This is very true. There is almost no one to warm to in this squad. Pukki and Krul, probably, but who else?

It’s been difficult, this isn’t necessarily the players fault if it’s an impossible task and they are only human.   The team wasn’t good enough so how can individuals shine?     Would say Hanley deserves praise, Omobamidele, Idah, Rowe, Sorensen, Rashica, Aaron’s have done well - we have to base the future around those!
