Grick 7 Posted April 2, 2022 Before season ticket holders start to question paying £600 each season and having one entertaining season followed by a dismal, low performing one as has been the case over the last 4 years? With the cost of living going nowhere but up at a rate of knots, I'm sure some real soul searching will be taking place across the NCFC fanbase. All levels at the club need to remember that they don't have a god given right to the level of support they get and have to serve up better than ham & chips when opponents have a full a la carte menu on offer. Fiery Zac 1,066 Posted April 2, 2022 Sigh 'Yo yo days are over' 'We're a mid table championship side at best' 'We'll be in a relegation fight next season' 'Going down to League 1' All said the last time we went down, and the time before etc etc. Some people really enjoy being miserable and pessimistic (and claiming its realism)

Sorry, but that is just so off the mark. The club is in a far better place than in those days, financially, structurally and with the quality of players we have coming through. Deano will have his work cut out, but his Brentford teams were always entertaining and no reason to suppose we can't do well next season.

The creed of the pessimist. If things are better than you predicted, you can enjoy the success of your team and keep quiet about your prediction. If not you’re able to insulate yourself in “I told you so” and criticise others as over-optimistic. Edited April 2, 2022 by Nuff Said

People will have to question their spends as the cost of living rises. But I doubt what league we're in would be a deciding factor. But if it is then good riddance because season tickets aren't really for fickle fans they are for supporters who commit for the season regardless.
Petriix 3,076 Posted April 2, 2022 Last time we had continuity. The relegation came in unprecedented circumstances with the pandemic and 'project restart'. This time we've abandoned 4 years of work and are a total shambles. There is zero chance of us repeating our previous two Championship championships.

Last time we all agreed that maybe we had been promoted too quickly. Last time we had a manager who had shown that he could smash the Championship. Last time we trusted in Webber. Last time we had players we could sell. Last time we had Buendia. Are the yo-yo days over? Let's agree to meet next April and see how it's gone.

But I simply can't understand those that are (and I will never be) so pessimistic as to dismiss the NEXT season as a failure 4 months before it even begins. The need some people have to be the prophet of doom (and its in all walks of life) is baffling. OTBC

Zero chance seems more than a little melodramatic. I see a fair amount of continuity and don’t see how we’ve abandoned 4 years of work personally unless we have a complete squad overhaul in the summer which I would question personally. Half our team will be off, and we will need a serious squad rebuild but we all know Delia wont let us splash any cash and Webber has already been exposed as a fraud so..Not very hopeful. beanbag 22 Posted April 2, 2022 We have not been relegated yet, there is still hope. Never give up. 5 good wins and a couple of draws and we are still in the Premiership with room to spare
daly 537 Posted April 2, 2022 This is a mid table Championship side at best before the exodus at the end of season We appear to have no system to go into games with Today was an example of the thoughts of the management Last time we dropped out of the EPL pundits were giving us praise as one of the best footballing to take the drop Bit different this time we are absolutely rubbish
Mello Yello 2,500 Posted April 2, 2022 I watched the game today and Brighton were actually pretty shoite.... bar the commitment of Grant an' Timmy we were incredibly more shoiterer.... I'll still be at Carra next Saturday and If we win I'll be happy, if we draw 'ho hum'....but lose & I'll be inconsolable for a small amount of time - but I will still be in the pub after regardless.....then later, maybe trip over doing the light fantastic....'hic'..... We seem to have regressed even more into being a 'rag, tag an' bobtail' poor performing squad...meh....

The need some people have to be the prophet of doom (and its in all walks of life) is baffling. OTBC I am not a prophet of doom in the sense that I think next season is still retrievable. However, I think we need: a) to make it clear to Webber that he either focuses on his job or climbs mountains, but he can't do both; after the series of disastrous decisions he has made this year, he is in no position to swan around as if he's doing us a favour by being here b) to get rid of Smith and appoint a more modern manager who has a vision of what he wants the team to be c) for Delia & Michael to emerge from their bunker and start to communicate with the fans about what will happen when they are no longer around If we just put our head in the sand and do nothing, then I do believe next season is going to be pretty bad.
pete 349 Posted April 2, 2022 Try going next Sunday, going Saturday you'll be more disappointed than today. But all the posters insisting Smith needs a transfer window to put his mark on the team. Due to our parlous financial state there will not be enough to fund a decent rebuild. He is going to be faced with the majority of the current squad which on the evidence of this seasons performances are severely lacking in ability even in a lower league. Be prepared for major disappointment for next season.

Eventually they'll be right and they'll brag about it without any acknowledgement to getting it wrong the previous 6 times.
Michael Starr 566 Posted April 2, 2022 Such a huge gulf now between the three going down to the Championship and the rest. The three going down will be there or there about next season.

Be prepared for major disappointment for next season. If we are in a perilous financial state next season c.f. the rest of the Chumps then something has gone very wrong behind the scenes. We are always told player contracts have reversionary clauses on relegation, so parachute payments should more than cover the wage bill (we have had enough practise of this over past 12 years). So yes a rebuild is required but I doubt we will struggle do it. The trick will be not to **** the transfer budget up the wall as Webber has done this season.
