Sargent scoring two goals is huge for both him and us and you could just see them grow in confidence more and more as the game went on. Absolutely buzzing!!! Perhaps the 15 minute rest worked in our favour. I thought it would kill any momentum we might have built up, though out goal rather came against the run of play

Jim Smith 2,290 Posted January 21, 2022 What a weird game. Delighted with the win. Chuffed for Sargent. Loving the new found intensity. Think we’ve got a sniff. But I thought we were really, really awful for chunks of that game. Completely lost the midfield after Sorensen went off, sloppy passing and leaving men unmarked out wide constantly even with an extra man. Football is a strange game. But Normann back next week and hopefully Sorensen not out for long. Those two the way forward.

dylanisabaddog 4,737 Posted January 21, 2022 Good interview with Smith on Sky who listed all the players coming back but didn't mention Cantwell at all. Also suggested strongly that no one will be coming in.

The Great Mass Debater 1,071 Posted January 21, 2022 4 minutes ago, Jim Smith said: What a weird game. Yeah, think it's one of those that could have gone very differently. The kind of game I 'Quit without saving' and then replay only to get a totally different result. Sargent's first was against the run of play and could easily have been chalked off - amazed VAR didnt to be honest. Pukki didnt look like he did anything to impede their defender but doesnt normally stop VAR Second goal I thought they were going to disallow with the old 'put your lines wherever you like son' but again, flabbergasted to see a good goal allowed to stand! Red card and their 'goal' could have been different outcomes. Feel like we got all our seasons VAR decisions in one game! Dont think we were fortunate or anything, but the scoreline does flatter us. Not that I care. Two wins on the trot, especially one away and against a relegation rival must do wonders for morale and belief. As does sitting outside of the relegation zone
