Time to write this season off

Recommended Posts

Time to accept it’s over , no way are we going to stay up , every game no goals , better effort but end result the same . Start all over again in the championship and press repeat button that’s how it will be until we get rich owners , does not matter who is manager

We're ****ed next season,

Aarons aside we don't have any assets to sell and what's left when the loans and ****e have been filtered out, will not get us up next season.

Exactly right. I think to simply assume we'll get promoted next year is arrogant and unrealistic. The champs is such a tough league with most clubs being vastly richer than us. Yes, we might bounce back, but we're just as likely to finish bottom half as we are top 6

I did that back in August to be fair and I'm still disappointed 😆

Me too! But it’s been worse than I hoped for! Thought we might be on around a point a game average, with at least 20 goals by now!

To end up with Smith as manager and six games without scoring is looking as bad as last time Covid run!

Everton,Watford and Palace next 3 our season just start so why is over :)))

Without doubt we are far from premiere league standards but wining Everton and back to full fit Rashica and Normann we at least can try to be competitive against  this kind of opposition.

Why did it take you so long I put the white flag up after the transfer window closed and accepted the utter dross we had signed

Very much this. The fact we were bullied by a midtable league one club a few days back should have set alarm bells ringing for how we will fare next season.. And next season we will be without half our players!

Agreed.

"The model" we are running on is banking on us having youth products coming through who we can sell for big money. We've sold most of those now, and Cantwell is going to get us next to nothing. We have no one else worth selling as you say. People are in for a very rude awakening next season.

Uncle Fred you are a total genius. I bow to thee and hereby pronounce you the Norwich City oracle.

That good enough for you, or do I need to find some better adjectives?

No. Not acceptable to write the season off with so long left.

Jim,

I admire your optimism,

But seriously, where does 24/26 points come from? Where do the goals come from?

Have you seen anything under Smith to make you think replacing Farke was the right decision?

I fear you are right, and with the hangover of negativity from this awful season, there's a strong risk that the remnants of this squad might even be struggling at the wrong end of the Champs. It will need intelligent recruitment this time round to augment what is left, Mr Webber. Dangerous times.

I like your optimism - there won’t be many takers for it right now, though!

It's got so bad that it's no longer about where the next point is coming from.  It's about where the next goal is coming from.

I think we needed to replace Farke. I think Smith is a decent coach. I think the negligent recruitment is an issue. IF (big if I appreciate) we can somehow improve the midfield I don’t think all is lost. It’s only 4 points. You have to believe you can make that up. Lose to Watford it looks a bit different admittedly.

Well ideally I’d like a forward in as well but to be honest I really think sorting through midfield will make us defend and attack better as well. Strikers are isolated at the moment so snatching at chances.

It's not just four points though is it?

You have to take the games in hand into account,

Even if we got the 4 points and got ourselves level, these teams will be playing each other meaning were behind again.

And in my best Michael Owen accent "If you don't score in a match, you can't win the match"

I just don’t think you can give up. Next 3 all “winnable”. 7 points from them and it looks different.

And she’s literally been dining out, flying out and getting slightly tipsy on the strength of that loan ever since.

Even though we've been shambolic recently and have lost six in a row at an aggregate of 16-0, we're still, incredibly, only three points from 17th.

I don't think we stand much chance of getting the points we need to survive (22-25?) but our next three games are against Everton and Palace at home and Watford away, and a couple of positive results could really change things.

It would be interesting to know who foots the bill for them and their entourage. I’m guessing there is some kind of expenses arrangement for all the tickets, flights on private jets, guests, corporate hospitality etc. Over 25 years it must add up.

I am not sure what writing off means, we are not going to stay up, but is that the only reason we exist?  I was disappointed tonight, but went to a great athletics stadium, and saw my team compete with the team currently fifth in the the top division.

Pay for those air miles themselves so those in the know reckon on here, I have my doubts though.
