Majority of managers have faith in their youngsters, not the case with Worthy.

Recommended Posts

I have been watching quite a bit of football on television lately, in between watching City, and the majority of managers seem to have faith in their youngsters and actually play them.  What I fail to understand is why our manager apparently has no faith in our youngsters at all, unless he has so many injuries that he is forced to play them.  Once again on Tuesday evening there was no sign of any of our promising youngsters, in the team or on the bench.  I seriously hope that Worthy leaves sooner rather than later and we get a manager who can appreciate the talented youngsters we have at the club and plays them, before some other club entices them away.

If Worthy is still the manager and we remain in this league next season, which seems likely barring a miracle, will Shackell, Henderson, Jarvis brothers, Spillane and Cave-Brown still be kicking their heels in the reserves or will they follow the same route as Crow.

But there again when our manager has brought in such outstanding players, who have transformed the team, such as Thorne, Hughes, Etuhu, Jarrett, and Robinson you can see why he doesn''t feel the need to play talented youngsters.

shackell and ryan jarvis have been injured nearly all season. rossi and spillane and cave-brown are all under 18 and are almost definitely too young. the likes of aaron lennon, walcott and rooney are the exception, not the rule. before rooney came along, noone was playing 16-year olds at all. henderson has been given a fair few chances (albeit in an unfavoured position, but in attack he''d be behind mckenzie, mcveigh, ashton, hucks and thorne in my book, and would never get a game at all).can you honestly say henderson should be a regular starter. he''s good but not amazing so far.

please don''t slag me off just because i haven''t criticised worthy. i am on the fence on the issue and it would be nice to receive some balanced responses for a change.

Kolin take your points re current crop, but this criticism can be levelled at Worthington during his tenure here, except for Hendo, whoI guess gives Worthy some twisted pleasure when he gets constantly barracked, he has given no other young players any sort of opportunity.

Remember Danny Crow anybody.
