It seems injurys and possibly covid forced us to play Cantwell from the start so I can understand Smith wanting a more defensively solid option at fullback behind him. Vs Man U we had the opposite, a left midfielder who does lots of tracking back and offers great cover with a less disciplined fullback attacking from deep. I kind of agree with the idea that Cantwell ahead of Giannoulis (especially with his lack of fitness) is a recipe for disaster.

This has to be one of the weakest 11s we've started for some time. 

If Rupp and Sargent have been added to the COVID absentees, surely we could've had this game called off? 

Villa virtually have a full strength team out. We're on a hiding to nothing here. Such a different picture to a couple of weeks ago with virtually a fully fit squad to choose from.

You can tell this isn't the team we wanted to put out- lots of players not on the same wave length.

Also someone needs to give McLean a massive boot up the ****. Cantwell was holding two players off there, trying to find space and McLean is just gormlessly staring at him from 10 yards away with no attempt to move.

I say Sorenson has done well, plenty of blocks as you'd expect from a CDM.  It's Gilmour that is the weak link at the moment.  We play in yellow Billy!
