Did really well yesterday when called upon. His passing ability an obvious benefit to us from a player in that position. I’d also like to praise Kabak who took on the job of “senior partner” seamlessly and I noticed just how much talking he was doing with Sorensen from the moment he came on.

It will be interesting to see what we go with on Tuesday night. I suspect, if available, we’ll revert to two specialist centre backs. That’s not a slight on Sorensen’s performance because he did well, it’s just what I think will happen.

Still, his versatility is an obvious squad asset and he seems to ooze composure, not fazed by wherever he’s been asked to play. Pleased for him.

It’s all been said here, but just adding my voice. Liked his style ever since that Brentford away game in the Champs. Lovely tackle on Ronaldo, read the guardian description of it. Appears versatile player, reliable, hope he can figure more in the future.

Sorensen was great, he really is an enigma. There must be a reason he doesn’t get more game time, would love someone to explain it.

Agree on Kabak as well. Heard some noise on the Pinkun podcast we may look to return Kabak to free a loan spot. Think we’ve just proven why that would be a terrible idea last night. As our 4th choice he was called upon and was superb, easily his best performance for us.

Congrats Jacob you performed admirably at LB and CB, now hope to see you as DM.  If this had been recognised by the flawed geniuses managing the team earlier we might be in with a better shot at survival.  A few of us on here recognised you're calm demeanour when playing at LB.  Farke was an idiot for not seeing there was a real player in there, Smith only played you because of CB crisis.  Lets have you and Normann in tandem and give Gilmour the opportunity of showing how good he can be further forward.

I think the game showed that you don't need a lump like Hanley or Gibson at CB. Someone who can be assured and calm is of greater value.

Kabak and AO at CBand Sorenson in DM.

Hanley and Gibson are very similar players. The kind of CBs that ruled the roost in 90s top flight football. These days consigned to the 2nd flight or lower.

Brains outweighs braun at this level.

Yep and made Ronaldo look like Richard Madeley

Yes, Ronaldo was awful yesterday -  apart from falling over for the penalty. Gave the ball away. Tried to leap above our player, then hurt himself. As to Hanley/Sorensen. Hanley is looking to be a liability. Gave a free kick on the box through grappling with their player. Always has a bad mistake in him. Maybe a chance for others to shine.

This and more. Its Really criminal that the so called previous coaching management had been wearing blinkers at the start of the PL campaign. Oh why oh why was Sorenson overlooked. Can somebody share some real truths on this. The guy is class.

Anyone who has played football has had this situation before. The quiet lad who doesnt say much in the dressing room gets left out for the 'banter king' despite being a miles better player. I always thought this would never happen in the professional game but McLean and Sorenson makes me think it does.

This is very disrespectful to Kenny McLean. Who has been a stable rock in the midfield. He is a lot more than a "banter king"

On McLean and Rupp, Smith has come in and correctly identified that we need to press teams high and stop attacks starting ath the source, for that you need at least one player like Rupp or McLean who is going to run all game, plus McLean can win a header which none of our other midfielders or forwards aside from Sargent can and we need that out ball sometimes. You have a midfield 3 of Normann, Gilmour and Sorenson and it's just not mobile enough to get up and press teams and get back quickly enough when we're being hit on the break, players like McLean and Rupp are not fun to watch and don't appear to offer much defensively either but to play a pressing game you need them unfortunately.

The mystery is why he never started under Farke. We didn't press teams and our gameplay was built on trying to build slowly, one or two touch and playing through balls to the forwards if a space opened up. We didn't really run or work off the ball under Farke so we didn't need a Mclean or Rupp so much and it would have been better going all in and filling the midfield with good passers. But for whatever reason Farke didn't rate him.

Think people are forgetting that Skipp was the problem for Sörensen last season. There was no way even as composed and consistent a player as Sörensen was going to get past Skipp the way he settled in and played from the start.

I started reading this threadd happy that people were enjoying Sörensen. But lmao are you all serious. Jacob Sörensen is a central midfielder. How many games has he played there for us? Like 5 league games at most right? And based on that you simply know that he is just brilliant in that position? Like what the hell are you talking about? You are talking like he is some incredible player that both Farke and Smith just kind of forgot about, while you, the brilliant supporter have noticed him. Coaches look at the players in training almost every day. If he was as good as you made it seem he would have had more playing time already.

He has done brilliantly at left back, a position he isnt suited to naturally. And now he had one great game at centre back. A position he could become very good at but which he clearly isnt very experienced in. What have you actually seen of him as a player?

For me he is composed on the ball, clearly reads the game pretty well, he can hit a decent pass. But other than that? I cant say much because I've barely seen him play. He doesnt seem very athletic, he is not extremely quick. Doesnt seem to have a very high workrate. Decent technique but not a very good dribbler or runner with the ball.

Someone here said "he offers more than PLM". Like do you really believe that? Pierre Lees-Melou has been captain for Nice. Sörensen before he came here played two seasons as a starter in the Danish league. Presumably quite well as we bought him. Then he played out of position at left back for us. He played quite conservatively, but did a good job at left back for what was by far the best team in the English second tier. Pierre Lees-Melou has captained Nice and scored 23 goals in the French league.

Like is there a joke here that I am missing? Because you are all exaggerating the talents of Jacob Sörensen wildly. He can become a very good player but he doesn't have any experience of note what so ever. He wasn't selected for the Danish squad for the euros and not just that, he wasnt even selected for the Danish squad for the U-21 euros even tho he was eligible. Maybe the Danish selection committee just dont have the eyes of you fine gentlemen or the new danish generation is one of the strongest in teh world.

Pardon my sarcastic and condescending tone. Sorry if I come across as rude. I'm just really baffled after reading this thread.

That will do for starters. Has he really had a chance. Why did norwich sign him just to sit on the bench ? I'm not surprised he didn't get a call for Denmark. I think the lad was being  played out of position by farke. So we will see if Smith sees a more positive relationship and gets the lad playing to a consistent level.

I’ve been bemused on why he’s not been given a run in the DM position which would allow Normann to get further forward (once he’s fit). Sorensen might not be the quickest but he can read a game which takes away the need for so much recovery speed. He seems quite intelligent as well.

I was one of the fans who was unsure about Sorensen when the forum started calling for his inclusion earlier in the season. As amazing as he was at LB for us, it was the fact that DF considered him behind the likes of Tettey and Vrancic in the pecking order last season. So to my mind there must have been some reason, or some sort of attribute missing from his game which made DF consider him a poor link in CDM.

But my word, what a performance on Saturday! Such an intelligent player, seems to read the game lightyears ahead of anyone else, and kept Ronaldo in his pocket. Thrilled for the guy, and chuffed that he made me shut my big mouth 😄

Gibson looks much better without Hanley, Brentford a good example. I think Hanley is a problem player for us.. We have better options, but he's one of few leaders we have.

Spot on, played left back when we needed him, never let us down. Played defensive mid when we needed him,  didn't let us down. Today he was excellent as a centre half,  about time he got the credit he deserves.

Maybe we should play him up front and maybe he'll score some goals for us...

This might be tongue in cheek, but I really believe he would…….he’s got those assets you can’t teach the ability to read the game, anticipate the play and make the game look easy!

Could never understand why he wasn't picked. Agree never let us down. You would not have thought he wasn't a regular in starting line up. Well played.

Looks like Kabak might be injured. Which would force Sörensen to move back to centre back lol. However. I like what I have seen so far from Sörensen. He is no game changer, but has done well with the ball wheneber he has gotten time on it
