What are your thoughts on swearing at Carrow Road?

Should swearing be banned in the Barclay, Snake Pit, and away fans stands? As those three are the only stands that swear in the ground. I've seen some clubs have a no swearing policy in place to make the grounds more kid-friendly and appropriate for them.

Untrue.

I sat in the South stand for a few years before moving to the Barclay and it was genuinely so much worse there.

Granted, I only have a small certain area of each stand to compare, and there was an unhinged guy close by who looked like he wanted to kill a match official most games. Any official, just someone who made decisions regardless of what they were. But he was not the only reason by a long shot.

Having experienced both, I do get a little annoyed that people think the Barclay is all 'rough and tumble' and certain other stands are full of absolute angels.

Barclay is lightweight nowadays, I had considered moving to south stand to get a side view of the game and seeing what it's like for the season.  But I dunno...  Been there for few cup ties in the middle and love the view, but atmosphere isn't the same.

You get more swearing from those complaining, whereas in the Barclay there's a sense of atmosphere in getting behind the team.  But like I say, nowhere near what it used to be.  But, my lad went up for league cup with his friends in Barclay, and it was nice knowing he would be ok.

what is the "C" word?

is it Croft?

actually i quite like the idea of using certain players names as substitutes for swear words... (a bit like the amazing Fry and Laurie sketch "Witness")..

Why don't you fusk off, you bunch of prime-ministering pim-holes!

orrrrrrrr..... Why do't you Fleck off, you bunch of Pattisoning Putney-holes!

Having had the (dis)pleasure of being in the Top of the Terrace v Wolves in the company of a five years old and his first match father, it was very embarrassing to hear the Barclay and other stands renditions of foul language songs being piped into TofT. I was asked ‘Why’?

It certainly made me think, as when on the terraces I was as guilty as anyone. But on hearing it, and wanting to persuade a 5 years old and his dad to support their local team, I for one was lost for words!
In the environment we were in, I have to say, it’s a big no no!

Dislike any swearing no need for it , films and dramas just put it in for no reason and out out of character with the role . Families don’t want their kids to hear it , no one is impressed by it keep it at home if you must do it .

I think you can already change that from the future to the present tense. He seems intent on starting ridiculous threads just to provoke a reaction.

Not sure I see the point of shouting obscenities at an inanimate object such as a building...🤓

True. I have been tempted to shout them at certain posters though, even though I know they can’t hear.

A tad of an over reaction  Tillo,  you can always ignore. It's not like he's  trying to  tell footy supporters  not to swear, just  certain  sections of the ground, the sweary ones🤣. As over the years I've sat/ stood pretty much all round and the only sweary bits were the ones he mentioned.... and before you ask, I once sat in away bit ( huddersfield 2-0 to us 1994ish maybe 95) for a while until  a seat miraculously  appeared elsewhere,  I was escorted by one of your colleagues in fact.

I think it might be Alan Partridge  in disguise.

Since the stupid ticketing system was announced, I doubt I’ll ever get to CR and swear as I’m now confined to the visitors.

However, I have been heard to swear at Emirates, the Bridge and WHL so far this year…

Does that count ?

This is a serious topic that will probably start a bit of a debate, so be warned. Serious replies only please, people who will just make short and angry posts in this thread will be ignored, as we don't want you in this thread.

I only read the title and this opening paragraph and the first thought was go **** yourself and gave up reading. Exclusion as the precusor. I'd imagine you'd buy a flat above a pub then complain about the noise until you closed down the pub. Also that opening paragraph is a passive threat. I don't care if i'm triggered.

Swearing is the one of the least of the old sins in a world where old morals are shat upon and where the hunting ground is saying mean things and racism(good to fight racism btw) etc. In crowds I suggest hearing it is a useful social construct to educate a person as part of being in a crowd and in parts of the reality in life(Only the stewards dictract from that). Football is a good avenue to explore this given the passion it extracts and If someones shouting you're a ****ing useless **** that's fine by me. I'd educate my family should I decide to take them into such a environment. You might want the football experience clean of such things, but imagine an envrionement where no-body swore. Would there be no negatie reactions. Would individuals not feel the weight of undue pressure expressed a different way? Or do you just not want the word **** heard and pretend the substance doesn't exist.

They're just expressive words used at highly emotionally charged moments. Offence is in the eye of the beholder maybe in this case because some do and some don't mind it. I'd draw the line at knowingly swearing in front of children, but adults should really be able to take it for what it is and not think too deeply of it

I do remember the chant: "the cushuns are gorn on!!" followed by a volley of cushions hurled onto the Carrow Road pitch in response to a bad ref decision. The cushions were withdrawn in an attempt to discourage bad behaviour, only for the chant to be replaced by "the cushuns aren't gorn on, you c**t. I blame it all on a cushionless experience.

I try it with a golf ball and can assure you that you are correct.

I can remember the day when had you shouted "fcuking Sargent you're useless" a close by policeman would have dragged you out.

However there would be a huge body of evidence that you were merely stating the truth.
