I want my Daniel back - why isn't he Daniel?

Recommended Posts

* Herr Farke took us to two promotions, how we enjoyed the excitement and glory as we ascended whilst Ipswich plummeted the depths.

* Herr Farke was grossly inexperienced and, along with his coaching team, learnt on the job although we all laughed along with him.

Time was to expose his limitations sadly as managing 'difficult' players off the pitch, developing tactics on the pitch to succeed in the Premier League, even apparently simple topics like effective substitutions seemed to highlight a worrying ntransigence.

* Now I appreciate that some of you lovely posters will not have any suggestion heard of Farke having limitations but, please move on. NCFC is moving on,  our tactics will move on,  and likely now we will move up the table to survive the season.

It's time for you to stop looking back, turn round and face the future.

Herr Farke has gone!

Nah, we can fondly look back on Farke's time at the club with pride and nostalgia. It's highly unlikely that we'll see another season like the last in my lifetime (or even the previous Championship title).

We can be both ecstatic at Farke's Championship success and baffled by his inability to crack the Premier League. No reason to forget. And, if the likely outcome of sacking him comes to pass, we will always look back and wonder.

Everyone has limitations. You may be about to discover that the bigger limitations lie with the playing squad.

It's possible that we might actually see the more talented members of the playing squad get a game......

That may well be the case, and then suddenly attention turns to Webber and the wider recruitment team (although didn't half of them jump ship in the summer, maybe they knew what was brewing); but most will have you believe that Farke would have to agree with signings before they landed.

A manager willing to play some of our more creative attacking players would bode well though, we're supposed to be Norwich City, a team known for playing good football. This season we've regressed to almost Hughton levels of negativity, fingers crossed one of Tsoliz or Cantwell will break into the XI and give us a bit of excitement before we all develop Saturday afternoon narcolepsy.

Well I for one see no problem at looking what Farke achieved and why he eventually was sacked.  Circumstances were against him this season - yet he still managed to get the team performing to a level where we started to pick up points and would probably have carried on doing so once that first win was under the belt.  Smith just has to build from where he left off.  Cantwell would have been back in the reckoning anyway, regardless of a new manager, both he and Gilmour would be more in the team as we are able to relax the siege mentality of trying to stem the flow of losses.

Farke's gone and that's it, but to pretend we have anything much better in place is wrong imo - it's still going to be incredibly tough to get points, Gilmour and Cantwell will still seem a bit lightweight (imo) against physically strong PL teams, Krul will still be a bit dodgy with his distribution, Pukki will still be denied much service.  We can still have a good season and the change of manager should give a slight lift to proceedings, but might as well get used to it - it's going to be tough and whether Smith or Farke is in charge, makes little difference to that.

I loved Farke but the way he managed players at time left a lot to be desired. To play in front of thousands every week, you have to have an ego the size of a small planet but it seemed that was Farke's achilleas heal, he struggled to cope with the slightest bit of chat back...It seems that Webber and senior players thought so too... I also think that Shakespeare is a massive upgrade in coaching experience & know how... unless you don't count winning the Premier league as good experience. Farke was correctly sacked IMO...I think we have a much better chance now. Time to back Dean Smith 100%

Maybe our best players will get gametime now & maybe the tactics will be a little more appropriate for surviving the Premier League.

Our new manager certainly has a far better track record in the Premier League than our last one, so let it go & get behind the new City!

Just a reminder Lakey. Farke won one match this season, against Brentford, and the only thing against him was his stubnorness in freezing out players, just as he had before and IMO one of the major reasons he was sacked!

Many of  us are getting behind a new manager, so yes, it makes a huge difference, because that new manager may just pick a team on player merits, and his coaching may just be a million miles from that of Farke and his coaching team.
