As often, mainly in-jokes incomprehensible to anyone who doesn't spend their life watching football on TV, but the bemused Loch Ness monster is amusing.

Yes a comic strip about football will likely have 'in-jokes' about...football.

I was being deliberately grumpy, but one does have to be pretty clued in to TV coverage of the Premier League to get most of the jokes.

Can you guys ITK tell me what the Olly / bottles thing is all about?

Or the Shakespeare 'Just when I thought I was out they pull me back in' bit, or Lampard getting upset at Delia's question, or...

'Just when I thought I was out they pull me back in' is from the Godfather.

The bottles thing is because Conte has banned ketchup.

No idea about the Delia's question to Francis.

Thanks, although it is beyond tenuous. Squires can be very funny, but most of the time you do need to spend a life watching football on TV and have a master's degree in zeitgeist pop culture...

I know what you mean, sometimes I have to read the BTL comments to work out what's going on.

Don't agree. I got the references immediately and I'm a Luddite par extraordinaire.

I think that means you're far more in tune with the zeitgeist than you care to admit. As for me, until Squires starts referencing Daphne Oxenford's Listen with Mother catchphrase and slyly slips in a mention of Wilfred Pickles and Mabel and 'what's on the table' I will remain unenlightened.🧐
