This.

Lampard has backed out and now we revert to someone who is also cheap and available and just wants a Prem job.

Very good question.

This is quite the shambles from Webber

If it turns out to be Dean Smith i will be underwhelmed to say the least.

So TIL

Overwhelmed would be indicated by Cyrillics?

Are they psychic. Either hes been offered it or he hasnt

Just can’t see it. Wasn’t even available when Farke was sacked. If the first choice was Lampard and Smith now gets the job it is shocking incompetence from Webber. I’m still expecting the appointment to be none of the above

Well I guess we'll all get behind him, but this appointment does feel a bit meh to me.

Lucky for Webber he suddenly became available, because he definitely wasn't first choice when the decision to sack Farke was made.

....if it's on SKY then it must be true but I'll need to hear it from Talksh*te before believing it 😔

I’m happy enough if true - he’s a decent coach. Definitely has something to prove after leaving Villa.  Though given how things have been I think it wise to wait before going too far down the road of believing it.

But just to say, people do realise that Smith got Villa up and kept them up for two seasons , don’t they?  These same people have been bleating about how poor Lampard’s experience is, but seem happy to take a guy from Norway’s league which is lower quality than Scotland.  I too wanted KK, but people dissing Smith don’t seem to realise anything about him.

It would be seen as a 'steady' appointment, and yes very underwhelming.

But if he can get us playing and keeps us up then we'd all be happy.

I concur it can’t be Smith, he wasn’t even available nor has he actually got any good track record…..Farke is a far better coach. Utter dross that can’t be true…..rather have Martin.

i think Knutsen would have been better ,maybe the unknown is more exciting ?

We have seen what smith can do with a team with better players than ours

a team like ours needs a Coach with that little bit extra to get the players over performing i can not see smith doing that

no no and 100% no. he's just been sacked, he needs a break before taking another position. he's not gonna have the enthusiasm for it and I don't expect him to be able to motivate the players. hugely underwhelmed if this happens, would rather have kept farke.

I agree.

But with the caveat that people were underwhelmed by some previous appointments who proved to be successful, like Nigel Worthington and..... Daniel Farke!

Villa sacked hm because they didn't think he could keep them up.

Very true, and if I'm being honest with myself I'm not sure how we could manage to get a much worse squad to stay up. But then I guess you never know.
