Problem attracting a decent manager

Recommended Posts

I think there will lots of interest in the role, perhaps no huge war chest yet lots of high potential players, a good club structure, and a generally loyal board and understanding board.   I think the bigger issue will be managing our fans expectations,

From the accounts there’s money left for January, that was my understanding. Webber buys the players anyway, players the scouting team have identified, whoever comes in isn’t  directly buying anyone.

Surely we have nothing left in the kitty now - given our lack of investment. so whoever comes in will not be offered a transfer budget - who would want that?

Loads,  literally loads of managers will see this as a risk free job.

Nobody expects us to stay up. You manage it, your rep is improved, you don't, no harm done.

So presumably we'll be without a manager until January then ?

Indeed

A no lose situation. Keep us up, stay or take another step up the ladder, relegated, that was expected, but more money than anyone else in the championship. There can only be 20 premier league managers each year, why wouldn’t you want to be one ?

The new manager will want a 4 year contract, their own backroom team and several million to spend in January.

Get that handbag open Delia!

January kitty could take a hit, but the way we were going we were going to struggle to attract anyone regardless. Perhaps now we’ll either turn around the results and give ourselves a fighting chance, or we’ll have a manager who can attract targets that will improve us.

More important is to get the assets that we do have (Gilmour, Cantwell, Tzolis) firing and giving our opponents more to think about.

The self funding model will put off most decent managers

we will either get a young unknown manager or a knackered old timer looking for a final pay off

Rubbish, and I suspect you know it.

There will be a long list of managers/former managers out there with a real interest in us. Can't be bothered to go through all the reasons why, but they are obvious

Just sell Aaron's and we have spending  money.  He's been poor by his own standards and we have great cover this season.   Pretty sure whoever comes in will demand a player of 15-20m quality.  It wouldn't be a bad move to secure Normann early imo, would offer security were we to fail this season.
