Well done to the police πŸ‘

You should prioritise crimes where *actual* violence is taking place as they cause more damage to people.

That is logical.

It makes sense to solve murders than to spend every man hour of police time hunting down the IP address of a 14 year old on twitter who leaves a comment after his team lost.

"every man hour of police time" really ?

What other crimes should be ignored ? Burglary, class A drug dealing. People smuggling ? None of which involve violence. The frightening thing s that people who hold such stupid ideas are allowed to vote. Assuming you are not just back from school.

Freedom of speech is often used by people who find their out of date views and behaviours no longer tolerated by a fairer and more tolerant society... They lash out frustrated at no longer being able to bully or harass people with the impunity they use to have...

It isn't freedom of speech and I doubt its even racism.

Its just someone being a cnut because they can.

Its good to debate. For instance, would we be better served with a different form of punishment. The death penalty kind of suited the crime but led to other problems. Would corporal punishment help?

In this instance have him stripped naked and violently shoved in a darkened cell. The sound of hysterical voices are deafening as those voices know as well as him they are about to die a hideous death. Maybe the stench of evacuating bowels could be added. For supporting the 'wrong' football club.

I'd commissionΒ recycling centres around the UK, and people locked in there,Β told that they can either a) sort through the rubbish to help recycle, or b) sit on their **** all day.Β  Really no skin off my nose what they decide, one option is a slower day for them.

You send minor offenders there for a number of days/weeks/months instead of prison, and the side result is it helps with recycling.

Second to that, I'd line up a mass of exercise-style bikes and they can pedal on them to generate power.Β  Put a TV up in front of them like a gym.. They would get free exercise AND generate power for the region/country.

It sounds a little sinister,Β but is actually quite ingenious the more you think about it.Β  Imagine 1000's people each day pedalling the nations electricity.Β  If we could corner enough law breakers we could consider drilling through the floor and attaching massive wheels to these bikes and convicts could pedal the whole country across the oceans to warmer climates.

I know what you're thinking, and yes, Sometimes IΒ scare myself to think of the levelΒ of genius inside one man.

Anyone found the off-switch on this one yet?

The people of the country are victims because the noose of what is and is not acceptable is tightening so that you will be arrested for the perceived offence of another person even when the reality of what actually happened (posting a picture online) does not match the punishment.

The precedent is clearly set by things like this and it's through blind naivety that people like you can ignore that and sing it's praises.

Anyway I'm about to go workout, you guys have fun in agreement about how this is the best thing ever.

No one saidΒ  it was the best thing ever,Β  so slide off before you look even more stupid, cretin. 8 weeks is getting off lightly imo. Eight months digging up mass graves to try to identifyΒ  the victims ofΒ the kind of bile he spouts seems more fitting.Β  YouΒ  can help as a volunteerΒ  Β if you really back the guy.Β  No? Thought not.

Do you think that the whole police force stops what they're doing to investigate one crime?Β

They have many employees across multiple departments that investigate a different range of crimes.Β

Other investigations into other crimes are still ongoing while other crimes get solved.Β

It's a bit disturbing how many people are willing to go to bat for twats like this under the guise of free speech.

And in my experience, their belief in free speech only ever stretches as far as whatever value they believe is sacrosanct.Β

It’s a crime. He also therefore deserves to be both investigated andΒ punished. Arguing otherwise seems a little odd.

I do think prison seems a tad overkillΒ though personally,Β even if only 8 weeks.Β

Wish we used community service better as a punishment.

He did have freedom of speech. Or are you suggesting he should actually have had freedom from the consequences of his actions?

Are you insane?Β

How is it something to be praised that someone can get 8 weeks in prison for posting a picture on twitter?

The police waste their time policing speech online when actual crime is increasing every year.Β

Don’t think so , they have a specialist team for this type of crime , does not affect day to day policing.
