Top 26 Team

Recommended Posts

From the PinkUn -May, 2021

”At various AGMs during the last four years, the ambitions of the club have been outlined, which has included the aim to become an established club inside the top 26 of English football.”

As painful as it is to witness the results on the field, from the business side, everything is actually going according to plan.

What say you?

Top 26? What is that all about? Top 15 should have been our ambition.

This bubble will burst soon and I can't honestly see automatic promotion coming with the current squad which will then lead us back to 1994/95 onwards.

Sadly, the fallout from our likely relegation this season may ensure that we don't even manage to maintain that lofty ambition ☹️

Totally agree!

The Farke sympathizers who say keep him cause we will need him next season in the Championship are thinking too simplistically cause its writing of this season and probably pushing us towards a potential record breaking worst ever Premier League campaign which will not be a good warm up for a promotion push next season. I'm struggling to see us getting anywhere near our woeful 21 point total of 2 seasons ago how things are panning out. With loan players leaving at the end of this season and a few of the better players wanting out and forcing transfers Buendia style we would have a weaker squad which could struggle in the Championship. Farke himself must be getting tired of the struggles which will eventually reduce his effectiveness.

I'd hate us to be a Watford style club who hire and fire willy nilly but their comes a tipping point where the Manager needs to be changed. - We have reached this point with Farke.

No it isn’t the plan. Taken from the athletic after Webber’s interview this week:

Norwich’s public messaging since Webber’s arrival in 2017 has revolved around the goal of being a top-26 club in England: essentially acknowledging their previous Championship position and desire to at least claim a play-off berth at the end of each season.

What hasn’t been reported is that the aim changed earlier in the year — to becoming a top-17 club. It was a message that was circulated internally but never delivered to their supporters or the outside world. On reflection, it seems the club would have played out that decision differently ahead of this season if given the chance.

they probably don't understand the elation in finishing 21st compared to the agony in being 20th

a complete nonsense of a concept, to be "top 26"

It makes more sense when the club stated the objective was to:

"Either be in the Premier League or in contention for promotion to the Premier League."

That's what Top 26 has always meant.
