Survival Mini League Update

Recommended Posts

The latest position is given below. The numbers in brackets are the actual points the teams currently have.

Southampton         3 - 1 - 2 - 0 - 5 - 4 - 5    (8)

Leeds United          4 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 3 - 4 - 5    (7)

Watford                   3 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 4 - 3 - 4    (10)

Newcastle United  4 - 0 - 4 - 0 - 5 - 5 - 4    (4)

Burnley                    3 - 9 - 3 - 0 - 3 - 3 - 3    (4)

Crystal Palace       2 - 0 - 2 - 0 - 1 - 1 - 2     (9)

Brentford                1 - 0 - 1 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 1     (12)

Norwich City.          2 - 0 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 3 - 1.   (2)

Given the way we are playing should we fail to gain a significant number of points from our next 5 games then we can kiss this season goodbye and I’ll abandon this what would become a Non-Survival mini league.

The most important thing to note is the teams who these clubs have played.

Norwich have played seven of their nine games against teams in the top half as well as playing the top three.

And the other teams haven't played any teams in the top half of the League or any of the top 3.

Is that what you are inferring?

No other team in the bottom half has played all of the top three, who are in a league of their own (ask Manchester United).

Brighton have had a good start have played two in the top six and only one of the top three (yesterday, they lost 4-1 at home). They also lost at home to Everton 2-0.

Newcastle should be worried more than us. They have only played three in the top half and none of the top three.

Yes, they have done well, they have also played Liverpool (got  a very good point) and a few in the top half.

Our current record is even worse than Derbys was at the same stage in the worst ever premiership record in history. Let that sink in.

Where are Derby now?

Yes, I thought we gave Leicester a good game as well and if it were not for a debatable offside decision we would have done better than Brentford.

You do know that 3 teams go down right? It doesn't matter to us if Newcastle lose all their remaining games. We need to finish 17th not 19th.

We are even worse than Portsmouth 2009-10 at this same stage.

I strongly reckon nobody has a worse start than us after nine games.

Other famous relegation candidates after the same number of games played that spring to mind, are that of Aston Villa 2015-16, Barnsley 1997-98 and Swindon Town 1993-94.There are also the two Sunderland sides of 2002-03 and 2005-06 I recently compared us to. They both won the Championship/Division One with a large points tally the season prior.

Just looked their records up and Portsmouth had three points, Villa four (Sunderland were bottom on three and survived), Barnsley six (Southampton were bottom on four and survived) and Swindon three. Derby already won a game by this point and infamously their only one of the season. Sunderland when they finished on 19 in 2002-03, at the time a record were on eight points after nine games played. In the 2005-06 season they beat their own record by ending the season on 15, after nine games they were on five in 19th place with Everton bottom on 3.

So yes, with us on two points after nine games, we truly are the worse team in Premier League/Premiership history at this stage.

Its a right rotter seeing these facts and at this rate might not even win a game.
